OT: I\'m a happy puppy today!
« on: April 16, 2003, 12:46:00 PM »
Just wanted to get some happy puppy steam off... I had to tell someone!

On saturday my hubby's mother called and said "why don't you guys come over and visit in may? I'll pay your ticket!"

Well, today we've gotten all snags out of the way and I called and ordered the tickets!

Ben's father is turning 71 in the end of may and my mother turns 60 in may 14th, so we're bringing mother with us and have a joint celibration with Ben's father! Since we didn't celibrate his 70th birthday last year we decided that's what we're going to do this year instead.

I can't wait!!!! Leaving on may 18th and lands at the Toronto airport a 23.59 (midnight) and then stay for 2 weeks with his parents in Port Colborne until june 1st.

YIPPIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

So you Toronto guys, have you gotten that SARS virus in control so I dare to come? I do have problems with my health so I'm not sure I could beat off a virus like that.

smiley, yes I'm in Sweden (and Swedish, married to a Canadian). Where in Denmark are you?

Vi kanske ska prata lite hemligt så de andra inte begriper vad vi säger?

(just joking guys, was teasing a bit).

Hey, that's great Petra!  Nothing like a free trip.

As for the SARS stuff, I roll my eyes every time I hear another report on the news about it. As of this date no one has died from the illness in the US, yet thousands, yes, thousands die every year in the US from complications with the flu.

Yes I know the flu is a worse killer... however since I'm having troubles with my respiratory area (wearing a trach tube etc) I'm also in the group that is more likely to have problems with the flu. So each fall I take the flu shot to be on the safe side... however there's no shot to take to avoid SARS, which worries me a bit.

Years ago I worked for a county health department as a contract employee meaning no benefits.  After traveling hours to a remote area of the county I came down with the flu and wound-up working sick for five days because I couldn't afford to eat the travel expenses and lose the wages.

Ever since that trip I have gotten yearly flu shots, and 2003 marks 20 years flu-free.  Flu shots work; I am amazed that everyone doesn't get them.  The only times they don't work is when the flu-shot folks get blind-sided by a new flu variant, and apparently that doesn't happen very often.

I'm a devotee of alternative healing, but I dip my toes into the allopathic medical waters once a year to take advantage of the miracle of vaccination...

Hey Petra, do you think that if I could make it to the East coast, that you could fit me in your bag for the return trip?

beacher, you have a month to drop in weight enough to fit the allowed weight on luggage. Plus you might need to practice some type of yoga, to make your limber, to be able to fit in to my suitcase. I have two "samsonite type" of bags, very big... but might be too small for you (It'll fit a 5 year old).

OH, and don't drink or use any other substances so I don't get caught in the customs for smuggling drugs.

Smiley, det är inga problem för mig att förstå danska. Det är värre med talad danska.

Jag kommer från Luleå, du vet vääääligt långt norrut och kallt. Fast nu är det riktigt trevligt, kring 10°C ute och solen skiner.

Vad studerar du i USA?

Jag tror vi startar en egen tråd, för oss båda.
