MDD PS Replacement

More of a pain than I figured.    

If you can afford it, have a shop do it.

Well worth it.

I thought you were looking forward to putting that in!    

At least it's done!

Yeah. I was. But it was a pain.  

Take out rear hard drives. Hard drive carrier.

Pull power connectors. Ide Cables.

Take out front hard drive carrier.

Take out Optical Drives. Optical Drive carrier.

Optical drive cable. Optical drive power connectors.

Don't miss the screws.

Fish them from bottom of case when they drop.

Unpug power connectors from motherboard.

Thread them through a small hole in side of hard drive cage.

Take out Power Supply.

Take out fan.

Reverse procedure.

Re-reread not so good directions with fuzzy pictures.

Don't miss supplemental part 19 correction.

Which still made no sense.

Try to figure out which connecters go where from unclear directions.

Etc.

Now that I've done it it's not so bad.

I heard they had a QuickTime Movie with better directions.

That would be the way to go.

Sounds like it was a blast. I bet you know the guts of the machine a whole lot better.    

As my Dad always said (he was a carpenter by trade), "I guess it's better than driving a nail in your foot."
