Charter Prices Going UP!
« on: April 30, 2003, 01:44:00 PM »
I received notice from Charter yesterday that my "Leadership Choice Package" is going up from $79.95 to $89.95 per month.  Since this is a combination cable TV/Charter Pipeline package (mid-level cable modem speed) I don't know how much of the increase pertains to Internet access.

Price increases seem to come on an annual basis. Must be Real Nice having a monopoly!

Jeeezzz... that sounds awful steep in the first place to me! but I don't know what a "Leadership Choice Package" is... "if" that's your Cable TV "and" internet package then your in the same ballpark as me at $83.41 per/mo.

Cable alone is $42.95 per/mo. but I'm on the highest speed they offer.

In any case I can understand... it's one of "those" bills I hate paying, but can't stand the thought of 56K dialup...

DSL here is about $10 per/mo. less... I might be forced... ( I should say I'd feel forced because around here I've heard from so many people that the DSL is inferior to our Cable service. ) Still beats dialup up though...

With Cable it is definately a monopoly problem in these parts... there isn't another choice. Seems to me though it should show on your bill how much is TV and how much is internet... does on mine... "or" I'd be hollerin' to them...

I thought you had AFN down there Mayo.

Anyway.. Charter is going up $10 here to. What annoys me is the entire sales pitch for the leadership package was that you paid one price for everything. I'm wonderign now if it's cheaper to break up the services and pay for each individually.

AFN is only in Ashland Scott.  Funny thing...where AFN is available Charter's prices are lower.  I wonder why...?

The only competitor for broadband Internet access in my area is Hunter Communications, but my neighborhood isn't wired yet.  I haven't heard much about the company for a number of months but I believe that it has negotiated services for the Medford and Central Point city governments.

Let me know if the individual services idea pans-out.  I can't believe Charter would have such a loop-hole, but you never know.
