Special Paste (CW4)
« on: April 29, 2003, 12:50:00 PM »
After using ClarisWorks 4 the last eight or nine years, I'm finally growing weary of the default for the "Paste Special" spreadsheet command. I can't find a way to change it in preferences, or anything about changing it in the online help file. I'm hoping some "pro" here just knows if it can be done, and how.

The default is to "paste values and formulas" which in my experience is what "Paste" does anyway. I'd like to change the default to "paste values only" so then it would actually be different from the not-so-special paste command.

I once read something that told me how to change other file characteristics and save them to be the default, but I've since lost that information. And no, I haven't any plans to upgrade to the latest version of AppleWorks.

kelly, how do you find these things? I guess my "search" in the CW documentation was too specific. I'm going to try the method in your first link on a spreadsheet and see if it changes the default for the Paste Special command. I'll be curious to see if that affects files that have already been created. I hope it does.

Just for closure on this, in case any lurkers are interested... I did successfully change the defaults for font characteristics following the procedure in kelly's first link. However, the one I was after seems to be one that cannot be changed. The "Paste Special" command is per event, not a default saved with the file, as far as I am able to determine. Oh well.
