Jaguar Printer Driver Incompatibility

Okay. First, I tried Gimp-Print. Everything was going well, until I went to actually add the printer. I followed all the directions to the letter, but when I clicked add, I got the same error message as I got before: "Error 1282". I hate that number.

So then I went back and did printed from my utilities. I was able to print a test page, but it was screwed up. The colors were all over the page, muddled and blotted. I think I must have a bad USB connection, but why then can't I add my printer in print center?

I have this catch-22:
1) In Print Center, the printer will be added, but it will say "Driver Not Installed," or,
2) In Print Center, the printer will NOT be added, and when I try to add it, I will get the "Error 1282."

I never know which I'm going to get, and I don't know what I do to cause things to change. I think the first time it changed was after I trashed that preferences file kps told me to trash, but since it has changed back and then back again, and I don't have any idea why. Currently, it's not added at all.

Also, I downloaded that file you gave me Al, but it was a .sea file and the computer didn't recognize it. What should I open it with? It's odd, because the Epson driver file is an .hqx file and expands to a .sea file that my computer reads just fine.

So now I've downloaded a program called Print Center Repair and I'm going to give it a whirl.

I'll get a new USB cable, but my computer is being strange, to say the least.
