Nothing to do with computers
« on: May 09, 2003, 03:41:00 PM »
Hi, this is way off topic, but you guys are smarter than me, so hope you can help.

How can I record from my satelite with my VCR.
Here's my hookup,
Dish on house, cable runs from there to the sat. receiver, audio, "red and white" go to the back of tv. the"Video" Svideo cable goes to the tv.
My VCR has no Svideo just rca jacks, how can I record off the satelite.

Thanks for any info

Hi nikki,

What you need is an s-video to RCA adapter. If you have a store like Radio Shack which is all over the US, just go there and show them your setup (draw a diagram) and they can fix you up.

Check out this site for info on the type of things you need. The converters are not expensive and simple to connect.

The second item down I think is the kind of connection you are looking for. But the best best is to take the paperwork from the dish, VCR and TV so the guy in the store is sure to give you the right parts. You want to make sure that the audio is also connected properly. If necessary take a picture of the backs of the units with you so they know which ports are on each appliance.

My house has areas that look like spaghetti with all the video cables and wires splitting and boosting the antenna reception to go to four VCR's and several TVs around the house. I'd hate to have to do it all over again as I'm not sure what is connected to what at this point.
