The list does update with that method. However, should I quit the browser and start it up later, even within an hour, I will still see "new" messages in a thread that I had read only a few minutes earlier. Of course, visiting the thread shows that there are
no new messages; sometimes I can even remember the time/poster and just not bother looking, again.
Right now, over in the Admin area, the thread "some advice from Buddha" shows that there are new messages, even though I read the last one there ( from Al ) at least twice yesterday.
Just above that thread are two that do
not show new messages. I know I have posted to both of them. However, both were posted to by me within the last 3 days, the "Buddha" thread post was over 4 days ago. I seem to remember something about that 3 day setting in the board control panel. It may be that after 3 days, all threads become "new" again? Not what makes sense to me.

With speeds returning to 'normal' it won't be quite such a pain to ask for page refreshes, but I usually don't bother since I quit the browser quite often. I just don't like coming back and seeing false "new" messages. There are bigger problems...

On the MAC isn't it control-click?
No no! All Mac's have the "right-click" function built-in, just like Wondoze, even the single-button mice work that way. Although, with single-button mice, you have to turn the mouse upside down...
