Sorry, but I've seen maybe 2 hummingbirds before in my entire life, and now I've seen 12-15 together at once and I've taken one picture with 8 of them in it!  This was last friday evening outside the building that houses the Edwards, MO post office in the area of the Lake of the Ozarks.

Thanks too whoever took off the duplicate thread.  Is the picture too big now?

Oh, well TS now says this is a dynamic image:

Way cool pictures. I've noticed a few hummingbirds at my neighbors feeder, but nothing like your pic.

Thanks for sharing.

Years ago, I stayed with grandparents of a friend in the San Jochim Valley in CA who lived way out in the middle of nowhere. They had several hummingbird feeders around the house, and the birds came in flocks. In fact, they were quite pugnacious with each other - one doesn't think of beautiful little hummers as territorial little beasts, but they are!

It was lots of fun watching them though. smile.gif

The man who put out the hummingbird feeders said that they got even more down at their house on the lake because they didn't have all of the traffic there.  I think that something like a hummingbird is a pretty close match to what you might have if an angel comes to earth.  FANTASTIC!

I think it's odd that I can paste the above in as the first graphic; but if I add another with the same static structure and TS thinks it's "dynamic!"

I tried it differently and it worked!  This is the man that runs the gas station & fast food place attached to the post office in Edwards, MO.  The younger two are my son's Russell (20) and Trevor (17).  You can see the hummingbird feeders in the distance!

My parents get hummingbirds at their feeders in their back yard in southern Illinois all the time. (I'll be there next week.) We've seen several of them at a time hovering around and darting to and fro.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Ditto on the lifetime sightings. I've seen two or three around my yard and put up feeders but can't seem to attract many. I do however get red juice in my hair on occasion.
Ya gotta love being tall sometimes. dry.gif

Take a look at a few of these links. A lot of good info about how to attract and safely feed them. I suspect your sightings are due to their migration through the area. Our best friend has a sister-in-law living in the country and sees hundreds twice a year as they come and go. She's an expert photographer and has dozens of closeups. We try to schedule a trip to her house during the migration. They are amazing creatures, but I'm still working on the habitat part in our backyard!

Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

The little guys start showing up here in Mid May right after the Tulips bloom. I put the feeder up then and the first one to show up is the "Rufus" a brilliant orange color, slightly larger species and downright aggressve. Don't see how he has time to eat. Spends hours running off the new arrivals. I have to replenish the feeder every other day then. They disappear around the first week in June. Theory being it is nesting time. Reappear end of June and then stick around until it starts cooling off in September. It is not uncommon to have 4 on a single feeder at any one time. Have spent many hours attempting to get the "perfect" photo. Still working on it, as photography is not one of my strong suits. I have one or two reasonably good shots but have never posted photos here. If anyone is interested would be happy to give it a shot.

Don't know where those towns are located. We'll be near Olney on the east side.

What I've ended up doing was to get an account at "FLICKR" to post pictures onto.  I posted them and clicked on the picture and got a screen with the picture on it by itself and then I right-clicked (double-clicked?) on it to get a static link address for the picture to be pasted into the TS page I wanted it to be a part of.  Then I highlighted the static link address and clicked on the icon above the edit window that has the picture of the screen.  This puts image brackets around the link address.  Then I saved the edit and it worked.  There was a little problem with re-editing such pages with static links on them (at least for me) but it does seem to work okay.

Someone else will undoubtedly correct me on this!

GN:   Got it now. Between you, Headcase  and Krissel you finally got it through this old head.   Here is "Rufus"  first guy of the season typically.
