I remember the cars, music, school, school uniforms, first girlfriend, boys club, boys scouts, neighborhood gangs, coal fired furnace and radiators. I remember soldiers, wars-( Congo, Korea), segregation & racism, neighbors accused of communism.
I remember when route 20 (two lane) out of Boston was a major highway to the West Coast and when they built the super highway (90) behind my house destroying a neighborhood, forcing us to eventually move.
I remember watching a neighbor, Bob Cousy and the Celtics practice and play at the local park. The controversy over Bill Russell the first black man in the game.
I was to young to drive and to old to ignored the news of the day. I was a product of the 50's but welcomed the 60's
Age, environment and being the youngest in the house I can remember many cars and motorcycles, and arguments over which one was the best or the fastest, we would end up at the local speedway racing around the track. In the battle between a 1957 Ford police 352 interceptor and a 1958 Chevy 348 Impala, the Chevy won in 1958 at Westboro speedway, but the brother in the Ford got the girl.
