QUOTE(gailwin @ Jul 12 2006, 12:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i just find it a pain in my "rear end" when i'm looking for tech support. i don't want to look at all of that "OT" crap.

I feel sorry you feel like this gailwin, but i do feel that the "OT Crap" is part of this community, and exactly why this Apple Community is not like other ones (where it might be techtalk only and getting bored at times).
And yes, i also sugested to open one or more new forum pages with different sort of topics but... i can live with the one forum also.
It's just a thought i had at that time, but i'm happy as it is now.

Hope you don't really feel pain in your rear end reding the "OT's" wink.gif

I have gone back occasionally to rewrite the title or details lines to make more sense. Maybe we should put SOS in the title if we're really in trouble! sos.gif

The "SOS" as a sufix is something i wouldn't say no to smile.gif
That way people see the urgent matters right on.
About the rewritting of tittles and subject lines, not to sure if you should do that since it might confuse people who check in regularly.
That and i didn't even know you could do that (thought it was administrators only).

I would hate to think I couldn't rewrite my topic if I made some mistake in how it was written.  Heck, there is one up right now that I'd like to delete myself!

And new ( or repeated ) ideas are always welcome. Just don't get too upset if they aren't accepted immediately or enthusiastically at first. State your case, argue your points and accept the outcome. Remember, you win some, you lose some and the rest get rained out! eusa_dance.gif

Yeah, and you have to take into account that some of us here are too old to handle change well. wink2.gif  toothgrin.gif  rofl.gif  Devilish2.gif

Marcel, I think being able to edit your own topic lines is a feature of the new software that we did not have before. I seem to remember one of our faithful admins posting that it is only available to members who have a certain minimum number of posts, but I forget how many...

I think the magic number is 6,169, so, you're almost there Gregg! smile.gif

Or maybe it is only 500... Thinking.gif

Just hover over the title and you'll get a "...click the title to edit it..." message, if you've paid your dues and have been blessed by the admins... tongue.gif

I too, vote to keep TS just the way it is.
That is why we put OT in the title of the new posts, so that they can be bypassed if we so choose.  And the description will show what the OT is about.
I think that is very straight forward and very easy.
TS is not like the runofthemill forums, its very special to us.
And the OT subjects can be very helpful in addition to all the Mac help.  I would be way way behind the Mac level that I am at now if it werent for TS.
Also with an OT, we have the option to choose to email privatly, as Jim did for me long ago, when I was struggling with HTML.  He sent me some very detailed help, as I was a real beginner.

So you see that we have many options here, and we do love it the way it is.
But we are open to new ideas and suggestions also.
Jane

ps, here comes an OT, its a Pet Eye fix by Sue Chastain.  We seem to see that question a lot, and her tutorial is very quick and easy.  Lots of us here use Photoshop or Elements and are always looking for some goodies on that subject.

Well, I passed it, sort of. I think my total is inflated a bit, but the true number is now lost in the time warp of software switching.
