iWeb newest version and how to handle photos
« on: July 16, 2006, 03:57:55 PM »
I just grabbed the newest version of iWeb, its 1.1.1 and its about time that I got started with a page using it.
My question is;
Ive got a group of photos in an album in iPhoto and want to use them in iWeb, and would like them to be about 800X600 or thereabouts for size. I usually prepare, crop, fix, whatever, and size them using Photoshop and have them all ready by using "save for web" beforehand.
If I do this, will they be ready to use with iWeb?  In other words, is this the most easy way to do this with iWeb?
Thats the way I do my photos mostly for any other site.
Thanks,
Jane

I am not sure - (sorry not much help).  I also use iWeb but usually downsize my photos first before I use them.  I use Downsize until they are about 35kb in size.

I will be watching this thread with interest.

I would have hoped that by linking iPhoto to iWeb it would have made the allowance to automatically downsize photos for use in iWeb, but with my luck, probably not!

Jane, you'll need to continue to either use PS "Save for web" (which I use all the time and find extremely useful!) or something like Downsize as Frances has been doing.

You can batch process them in PS if you're saving them all to the same width or height etc.

Here's an interesting thread on the subject on the Apple Forums.

Hi Paddy,  Thank you for the link.  I will continue to use PS to prepare my photos, and its nice to know that iWeb deals with that OK now.

I do use Pbase.com for classwork and other things that I need to have the high rez photos posted.  Family wants to download full size wedding images for example.  But I can password protect these family pages.
I like the way pbase does it, you have a choice of the size that you want to view or download the photos.

Now I can get started on my iWeb pages, thank you,
