Isn't speaking too loudly one of the warning signs that you're to old for the internet?   smile.gif

That would be the one you are speaking to!

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Now I know why I love these boards so much - a lot of "young senior citizens" my age hang out here.

Frankly, I don 't think of the 70's as "old age" anymore - maybe I will feel old when I am in my 90's, but not yet!

By the way, The picture I use is of my mom when she was 21!

I'm not yet in my 70s (I'm 57) but already am getting dementia trying to fix internet connection problems on my own. Younger people if faced with similar problems  would also become demented but they would be less mature to deal with it. On the other hand the younger ones are less susceptible to heart problems stemming from dementia.

Personally I wish all of you would write bigger and save the stress on my poor aged eyes. biggrin.gif

goodear, 57 is a great age. I just rolled into it and am having a blast. Let's hope I say that when I'm 58. For some reason ... that Beatle's tune is now running through my head. hahaha

The company may claim that they’re new policy was made to protect seniors but WE know better and so do folks over seventy. They are responding to statistics that show seniors require more service or have a higher rate of return than that of younger customers. There will be a growing trend to deal with rising age and dementia as time goes on. The issue is heating up hear in Florida (Heaven’s Waiting Room as they say) as more and more accidents involve seniors, or as they become more susceptible to scams.

What is going to be the trend is that annual testing and certification for a variety of incapacities will begin to split the community and their ability to mount a force to defend them selves. Medication securitization as it relates to cause and effect will even supercede Medical Privacy laws. Using a verifiable medical certificate (not just an eye test) will be the only way to get or renew a driver’s license or enter into a binding contract. As seniors spend more time with doctors, those records may come back to bite them in the rearend.

Some folks now are using alternative medicine to keep themselves away from prying eyes, where no medical records need be kept or insurance need apply.

It’s been great to have someone else pay for medical coverage through insurance, but insurance companies have the biggest teeth of all. Insurance companies will be the final Arbitrator of independence for an ever-aging population who find themselves depending on it more and more as time goes on. A senior may in the future need to buy an insurance policy to purchase items that companies may find to costly to sell to them, I’ve heard that argument made already and it may come to fruition in time.  coolio.gif

I'm actually looking forward to my next birthday as I will 'hit' the big 60. My local pool will be cheaper to join, some area stores give discounts and I'll only have two more years til I can apply for early social security.

I've been getting discounts tons of place since I hit 55. Sneakers, being the eldest, tongue.gif  *could* get discounts almost everywhere, but he's too _________ (pick your own word) to ask for the discount. Not me. I ask.

krissel, enjoy that next birthday. wink.gif

Heh, heh.

Not me. The last time I paid for a movie ticket was to see "Ghostbusters" (1984).

salute.gif  But, but . . . isn't that one of the privileges of being a girl person? Or is that concept passé?

huh.gif

PS: I don't even remember the last time I "went to the movies". Except that I do recall it was hardly like the olden days (in rural Illinois) when the theater was the only air-conditioned building for miles around, when the "features" changed every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, and the  admission = 10¢. Oh boy!

Well, either we go Dutch or forgo the theater altogether and rent a video. Actually since they started breaking up the large theaters into mini screens it just isn't the same experience any more. Add the noisy patrons and dirty environment...ugh.

Besides, I used to be so tired by evening that as soon as the house lights went down, my eyelids did also.

Please remember we have young people reading these posts! And you know the TS stance on piracy! harhar.gif

I always ask for a discount just about anywhere. Case in point: A few years ago, Judy and I visited a local exhibit of WWII artifacts. I casually asked if they took a Sam's card when asked how I wanted to pay the admission fee. "Sure, matter of fact, we'll give you a 50% discount, since they are one of the sponsors!" Never look a gift horse in the mouth. And don't get too close to the other end, either! flower-smilie.gif

The last movies I went to at the theatre were the Lord of the Rings Trilogy;  I went to a theatre with nice comfortable seating and still managed to get very stiff and sore.
