thanx.gif Bill!

I just tried going to the Buy Now site to check the specs, but the new 24" is not listed. No doubt the data will be posted soon.

Oh, so beautiful!
I wonder if they can keep up the pricing and not have to cheapen down the components?
I would rather pay a bit more, and not have troubles and problems like I am having with my G5 iMac with its cooking power supply and sickly logic board.
So I will put off any purchase for a bit to see how these stand up.  My G4 20" igloo is fine, my G5 is in the ER again.
Lets wait a while,
Jane

Gotta tell you, I find it scary that Apple is going Intel and Intel is laying off a huge chunk of their work force.

I'd love a new *mac*, but I need a sewing cabinet first. tongue.gif

Maybe it's about time...

Came home today to find everything has gone fuzzy on my Dell monitor. No amount of playing with the settings seems to cure it.

A couple of weeks ago, my "commercial" e-mail address site switched over to new software. It's leaving me behind. There is a "classic" link for older browsers, but when I entered my username and password, it said they were invalid. Now it won't let me back to the orginal login page to try again. At work, on Windows, it lets me login.

Ugh!

In fact, they are cheaper.

January models:
1.83GHz (Intel Core Duo) 17-inch iMac (MA199LL) was priced at US$1299
2.0GHz (Intel Core Duo) 20-inch iMac (MA200LL) was priced at US$1699.

The updates:
2.0GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo) 17-inch (MA590LL) is priced at US$1199.
2.16GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo) 20-inch (MA589LL) is priced at US$1499.

And, there's a new entry model 17-inch iMac 1.83GHz (Core 2 Duo) (MA710LL) for less than US$1000.

While the entry level model is not sporting great specs it is only $899 though the education store. That's a pretty good buy. smile.gif

The not so crippled (faster processor, SuperDrive, better L2 cache, RAM and Video card)  17" is $1099. Also a good deal.

I like the 24", but there's no TV tuner card , or HDTV on it. That sucks!

I just don't understand Apple when it comes to adding a TV tuner card to their products.  Everyone else seems to be doing it, Dell, Gateway, Sony, HP/Compaq, even Emachine's have them pre installed or you can order a computer with an upgrade to  a TV tuner.

Oh well, I'll wait next time on the iMac and see if Apple is catching on to how people would like an all-in-one system so they can save space and work on a computer and watch the news at the same time.

However, the 24" is certainly tempting, but I'm passing on this one.

I dont want a TV in my computer, and dont have any friends who do. Well, thats not the truth, my oldest grandson would just love! a TV tuner in their big computer, as they dont have a TV in their house.
Our TV is in the opposite end of the house than my computer room.
But I do agree that it should be an option if wanted.
I think that perhaps these new Macs are going to be somewhat customizable.

Drats! The new machines don't have either a washer or a dryer built in! Now I have to travel to the other end of the house to get the washing done! If LG can put a TV in their refrigerators, why can't Apple put a washer in the iMac?! rant.gif I like 'cool' TV's and clean keyboards! flower-smilie.gif harhar.gif And what about a floppy drive?!
