Hi.
PowerBook G3 computers with CardBus cards will hang with USB Adapter Card Support installed if processor cycling is allowed. Use the Energy Saver control panel to turn off processor cycling. You need to set this for both battery and power adapter operation
Ok for power adapter but impossible to uncheck for battery in the setting window-
Is there a fix...?
Thanks

Hi, not near my PB at the moment so I can't check but probably the first thing you might try is dumping the Energy prefs and see if that changes your options.

Trashing the energy preference don't change the option for battery, processor cycling remain checked and clicking on it does nothing...
I'm on (french) 9,2,2 on the wallstreet...
Other suggestion...?
Thanks

I'm surprised the prefs trashing didn't work. I checked out my panel on my Wallstreet running 9.2.1 and I was able to click off the processor cycling. However, while testing my PB locked up twice so there must truly be something going on with the Adapter support, though I never had that problem before that I can remember using 9. There is no such problem with X. If you have a fast enough processor and lot of RAM you would find 10.3.9 a joy to use on your Wallstreet though it requires XPostFacto to startup the first time or when changing from 9 to Panther (Jag is supported).
Oddly I was not able to change some of the other things like turning off power to the unused PC cards. Maybe certain PBs will allow certain things. ?? They shouldn't be offered however if you don't have the ability to do something.
Only thing else I can think of is that the Panel itself is faulty. Rather than doing a complete reinstall try using TomeViewer to get a new Energy Saver Panel from your 9.2 install CD and replacing the one you have.
