I doubt it, but then again I've never used it for that purpose.

I'm thinking that it is a difference in reception capabilities rather than an Airport "problem."  Hopefully someone with direct experence using an aluminum PB wirelessly and knowledge of Dell portables will chime in here...

In the meantime, I would do the simple test of moving around with the PB and discover how far you have to move in order to see the same networks that appear on the Dell.  You might have to go only 10 feet before you pick-up the signals, and then it won't seem like much of a problem...

My Esteemed Colleague,

My own stock of Wireless Wisdom is woefully wimpy, consisting as it does of my limited Personal Adventures in Wireless Computing w one lone 12" G4 PB and an Airport Express in a teeny-tiny one bedroom apartment.

That said, I am Curious [yellow] as to Why Oh Why do you have Two Different Wireless Routers when you have only one single wireless Mac?

Methinks that unnecessary duplication and complexity could have something to do with your here-and-gone connectivity...

Didn't I read somewhere ( perhaps on the side of a turnip truck? ) that those Aluminum books caused more of a barrier to the fairly weak WIFI signals? Only wireless option I don't see you using is an external antenna!

Of course, a whole reall of cat 5 cable would still be cheaper, faster and more secure, even if it was run right beside that 'wireless' heater. Thinking.gif But some just lust after that 'bleeding edge'! harhar.gif

Saw something in the latest MacWorld/MacCentral blurb that reminded me of a certain left-coaster having 'reception' problems. The article stated:

I thought that would cover even left-coasters! So, here's a link to <QuickerTek> that may supply exactly what you need. Installation difficulty rating: "Ridiculously Easy" ( I think that means if you have any trouble, ask your wife! harhar.gif )

Only 1 wireless switch/router and i wireless remote access point used at any given time. Ocassional substitution of a second access point as an experiment.

ABD: MyTrusty Advisor, having used up much of 1 reel of ethernet cable (which seems to somehow be faulty/damaged) and having become quite well-acquainted with both our crawl space and our attic, is losing enthusiasm.
