ClamXav is a free virus checker for Mac OS X. It uses the tried, tested and very popular ClamAV open source antivirus engine. It's primary use is to check for a Windows virus in email attachments that you receive & might forward to a Windows user. If the day ever comes when there is a Mac virus, it will detect that virus as well.

Anyone using this or know anything about it?

The clamAV product is a well known linux virus scanner that keeps virus definitions very up to date. ClamXAV grabs the same virus defs, so you don't have to worry about being out of date.

That said, I'm not going to worry about installing it until there really is a need.

and Virex is supposed to be free with a .mac subscription?

Apple dropped Virex when it broke with Tiger. Virex updated it, but Apple kissed it goodbye.
