Archiving e-mail in Google mail
« on: December 13, 2006, 06:54:04 PM »
Hi, everyone

Now when you're logged into GMail you can send an e-mail from any of your e-mail accounts.  This makes it a handy one-stop e-mail, like what Mail.app does for me, but a version for when I'm away from my computer.

I want to transfer my saved e-mail into my Google e-mail account.  I tried setting a rule in Mail.app to redirect messages to my Gmail address, but the rule repeatedly re-directed the same e-mails several times.  Also, not all of them arrived in my Gmail account.

Anyone know how to do this?

Hey dan this would be something you would direct from your ISP web-mail preference. Any mail coming to your MAIL client could be forwarded to your Gmail address as well, leaving a copy on the ISP mail server.

That's how I would approach it anyway.  smile.gif

Yes, I can do that part, but I want all of my saved mail in there.  Sometimes I have to refer to something and I'd like it available.

Well Dan, I may not understand what your trying to do, but if they're already off your ISP webmail IMAP server you'll need to send them from your Mail client as "sent mail", if your referring to email in folders inside your MAIL client.  I don't know gMail, but I doubt it can import email from your computer like a Client can. There may be a software solution outside of Mail or Gmail that would work, but I don't know of any.
