Mama, Lao-Tse may have known something, but he probably didn’t know what it was.
He is considered to be the father of the Library system, a consultant to Confucius some say. Like many ancient figures, rumor and word of mouth has distorted the accuracy of their lives.
Well digger, don’t know what you mean but it sure looks purty.
The course was endless theory… and balance for the first three months, Tai Chi and Pushing Hands which is dance with no contact.
http://www.key-arts.co.uk/archive/01.htmStudying Loa Tzu and Sun Tzu for reason and tactic, a lot for a kid in a strange world. I was the first juvenile in this dojo, and it was debated whether or not it was acceptable. A far cry from what you see in today’s studios, with kids as young as 5 years old, people using these facilities for their babysitting needs.
I was active for about 12 years on and off, I used it to train in other fields (skiing, climbing, bicycling) The state that I resided in, MA. considered a Black Belt a weapon and you would have to register yourself if you acquired one. If you ever found yourself in a physical confrontation you could be charge with using a weapon.
Some Martial Arts would not have a Black belt for this reason, of course some give them out like candy, so they mean very little in this culture. The discipline and theory is priceless, something one uses far more than the physical aspect of the program, especially at my age.
