Got any more snow pictures, such as those you posted a couple of years ago . . . just so the US winter can be put in perspective?

I don't think so, Dick...just had a look at the snow conditions at a couple of NFLD ski resorts and they were reporting 30 and 45 cm of snow respectively - or a foot and 18" for the metrically challenged. One of them (Marble Mountain) typically gets 16 FEET, sooooo, methinks that like everyone else, NFLD isn't getting much snow this year either.  It was all sent to Colorado.  toothgrin.gif

Here in North Andover, we have the merest dusting. My 15 year old kept peering out the window this evening, getting all excited by the few snowflakes drifting down, visions of snow days dancing in his head. I'm afraid he's out of luck; Massachusetts may be a bit silly about their snow days, but half an inch isn't going to do it! rolleyes.gif

My crocuses are about 2" tall - they popped up very enthusiastically when we hit 69º F a few weeks ago, but must be wishing they hadn't now, because it's been hovering under 20 at night and around freezing during the day - with a predicted high of 13 on Friday. Brrrr....and to think I was out working in the garage just over two weeks ago seriously considering donning a pair of shorts!!

It snowed in the Arizona desert today - my pal sent me pics. biggrin.gif

Here? The snow is almost all gone, the sun was out, the high temp was 57, and I'm back to wearing a light jacket outside. Perfect weather.

Paddy, everything in our yard is dead -- except the rhodies, and the largest one of those isn't looking too good. Come on out for a visit. You don't need to stay home and pack boxes. HAHAHA!

Hey Dick.  Paddy is correct.  We are well behind our seasonal amounts of snow.  My son and I just shoveled our roof on Saturday, but there was only about 2 feet up there.  According to my data, we've only seen 4 feet fall since the first snow, and a lot of that has settled and melted through the last couple of strange warm spells.  We have about 2 feet depth on the ground presently.  Not worth posting an image.  But if we get what we had last year, I'll post.  Just several days ago last year we got bonged with a gullywhomper which dropped 4 feet in 2 days.  I think I blew the drive 5 or 6 times during that storm.

If the pictures are not too old, how would we know the difference? dntknw.gif

Under high magnification, you can read the date of origin of the flakes. That is, assuming the image was taken at a high resolution to begin with. Newer flakes even have the Fractal formula on them!

We've got a good 4 feet on the ground now, but after seeing what upstate NY received, no sense on me posting my pics.  Imagine.  12 feet in that short amount of time.

Newer flakes even have the Fractal formula on them!
But since Bill Gates bought the weather office to eliminate the competition, each flake uses the same fractal formula.

But it appears that to the majority of people, the MS flakes are good enough — and most people are content with MS's snow jobs.

You'll really notice the difference when each rain drop is square.

Here are some shots of our snow condition today.  As I said earlier- we are quite a bit below normal snowfall.

Ok, but just a hint.... what Province is that?

"Down here" we identify our location by state. Of course, there may be towns of the same name in several states. - don't know if a similar thing happens in Canada.

csonni - WOW! You do live in snow country! Sneakers mom was born and raised in Moose Jaw, and her family all still live in and around that area (Saskatoon, Regina, Indian Head) -- and they all talk about their harsh winters, but not sure it compares to yours! I'll tell Dick that next time he complains to me about shoveling snow. I'm sure it will go over well.  tongue.gif

Is this a serious question?  whistling.gif  harhar.gif

It's in the Province of Newfoundland. It's a famous area.
