OT: For Our British Friends

I don't know if it received much coverage elsewhere, but the visit this weekend of Prince Charles and Camilla was big news in my city (Philadelphia) Friday-Sunday:

At least the weather was ok and I didn't get caught in traffic nightmares. smile.gif The restaurant my daughter works in is directly across from the side entrance to the Academy of Music that they used Saturday night, so in addition to being interviewed a bit by security, she had a great view of them entering and leaving since the street was blocked off.

I wish you would keep them.  No use here.  Do bugger all, just cost us money.

Have 'em, with love.

Ooh Frances - you'll be off to the Tower. Or you would be if any of that lot in London had the remotest idea where the Shetlands are biggrin.gif salute.gif
At least having a monarch saves us from having a President Blair eek2.gif

Rob: Glad your daughter - and the "city of brotherly love", if my memory of school history lessons serves me correctly - enjoyed the visit; you'll probably gather that over here the subject of royalty is just a little too close to politics to be continued on this forum wink.gif

I wondered about that after I posted it. From our perspective, it was a nice little diversion from our own issues here in Philadelphia (and in the rest of the US.) I was actually a bit surprised at the lack of controversy and protest the visit brought about here in Philadelphia. It was a nice showcase for the city, and most of the people around here--regardless of political views, were good "hosts." BTW Neil, your memory of history was correct. smile.gif

I heard that Camilla was admiring some antique bell in Philly, and when she left, it had a big crack in it. eek2.gif

Actually, I was surprised anyone could touch it.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

That's nothing. When she looked at the time, all the clocks stopped.

OMG. It's starting to sound a bit like the Craig Ferguson show. biggrin.gif (It's possible that nobody other than krissel will get that. wink.gif)

Frances,

In days of old
when knights were bold
His Mother would have cried
"Off with her head"
