Since I went to 10.4.8 from 10.3.9 the iCal icon in the dock shows the wrong date (Jul 17) until I open it. It then shows the correct date until I close it whereupon, I like that word, it goes back to Jul 17. Anyone run across this? If so what's the fix, if any?

Guess I'll have to live with it, but it really did show the correct date when I was running 10.3.9. iCal would start automatically when I booted the system, show the correct date and remain correct after I closed iCal. Not so now.

Steve-I moved this back from the archives, as I wanted to ask.  Is iCal still not showing the correct date?

I noticed  after once started, then quit, the icon in the Dock (yes, some of us still use the Dock, and even like it!, so no, I don't want to hear today's lecture on how some don't like it, and do their very best to hide it-I know, I know, we've heard it and heard and heard it) does now show the correct date, but only once it starts.  Do you still have iCal as a start up item?

iCal still does not show the correct date. Yes I have iCal as a startup item, the difference being, once I close it the date goes back to Jul 17 which it did not do in 10.3.9. When I wrote this I was running 10.4.8, now I am running 10.4.9 and it sill does the same thing. Of course, if I leave ical open and put it in the dock (I use and like the dock, too) the date remains correct.

P.S. what's with the black bars in your post?

It's called spoiler and it is in the full reply window, under "insert Special Item"

Have you checked the Apple Support Forums about this. I would swear that I remember something about a fix to a problem that affected iCal from an earlier Apple update. Don't even remember what the iCal problem was or what fixed it, but that forum has a whole section on iCal, I believe.

Steve-My 10.4.9 machine does the same thing.  The date no longer stays current if the app is not running...

Gregg-If we were discussing movies, it could allow someone to post the ending of The Sixth Sense, and those of us who haven't seen it, would not be forced to know before one saw the movie.  Yeah, I know, kinda silly here, but if nothing else, it made some take notice.

So...does anyone know the "secret" for The Sixth Sense?

Ok, that makes Sense. Or, one could post the result of the National Championship game in "black face" so those who still believe Ohio State won wouldn't be exposed to the harsh reality. toothgrin.gif
