My iWeb rendering
« on: March 08, 2007, 02:40:54 PM »
Had a class reunion last year.  Talking with the chairperson for the event, she mentioned how nice it would be to have a class website. I said I could do that and she was thrilled and asked if I would. So I did.

I've been tempted to do this for some time, especially after seeing Frances',Chris',Giantmike's and some others. Reading the recent thread from JCarter nudged me to proceed.  It's not the greatest, but it is a labor of love. Let me know what you think...don't hold back...I've got thick skin.

The intro page was not done with iWeb...and not done solely by me...my youngest son who is a whiz at coding did about 80% of it. Hope you like it.

You will also see the name Bill used a lot on the comments page...William is my middle name and what my family and classmates called me. How I got to using Roy is another story. Enjoy!

That is really excellent!   iWeb looks good, I tried out Rapidweaver, but havent tried iWeb yet.
Congrats on a great site, and having the comments on the last page is nice.

Won't load/show anything without javascript enabled, probably a script what iWeb put in there. Other than that, it's...white. tongue.gif

On the other hand, it may be the Flash on the home page. Source shows not much besides a 443 pixel wide Flash movie "FTest1.swf". NoScript also blocks Flash for me. Is there a reason to have only a Flash movie on the home page? Hopefully that's not where all the nav/link buttons are. dntknw.gif

Goodness, It runs fine for me with Safari and Firefox.
Even the opening music and stuff, which I would say goes a bit too long, but I went to 'skip intro' after a while.
The rest of the site is great.

Seems the whole world is on broadband except me

First 2 pages loaded reeeeal slow. Looks good though.
High school looks exactly. like mine but for a Thomas Jefferson statue in front.
I had to skip the front page also. It was loading but I have things to do this week. biggrin.gif

I tested the site on FF, Safari, Netscape and IE before publishing and it rendered OK and ran well on all of them.

Jim, the INTRO PAGE is the only one with Flash and it does not contain Nav/Link buttons.

Jane, I agree the song is a bit long, however; let it play all the way through at least once. What happens after the song is finished is really neat thanks to my son.

Enjoy!!! biggrin.gif

Oh, I do admit, I cut off the rest of the song, and went to the pages themselves.
But went back just now, yes that is very clever!  That must be some really sophisticated work to do that by hand.

And the whole site, the beginning to the end, is very nice, and very fast on all the browsers that I have here to test it on.
Not a bit o trouble here.
Now that you have inspired me, I will give iWeb a whirl tomorrow.
Thanks,
Jane

Jane, my son works in IT and he says he would rather code by hand than any other way. He is pretty quick at it. I think it only took him a few days.

Thanks for your kind comments! I think you will like iWeb.

Thats amazing, perhaps one of my grandkids will learn how to do things like this.
I am just learning HTML and CSS, so at my age, I probably will stick with just that.
Its all such fun to learn!

Hello smile.gif

It runs nice here also and I like the website, simple and clean.
Well done on the job.
Maybe the only thing i would say is that, on the first page (after the intro) you have to scroll down to see the rest of the page and I feel that the first page should be visible in full... but that's my opinion wink.gif

Well done clap.gif

Marcel, what browser were you using?  I do not have to scroll in any of the browsers ie, FF, Safari, Netscape or IE.

Marcel is on a 12" ibook, I'm on a 17" flat CRT (1024x768), and what I see is

(maybe resize the alma mater?)
This is a "specific use" site, and those visiting will have a different view as most of us.  They want to hear the music, they'll share with friends the reason to stick through the intro, this is a GOOD site for them.  So for your TARGET audience, I say fine!
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.
