I got up early and before my "worst" cup of coffee of the day I decided to reset the clocks. I checked the G4 and my main XP machine to make sure the patches worked and I know it'll be okay if the Linux box sleeps in for a few days. Then I reset the VCR (took me awhile to get the right key combo on the remote) and turned my attentions to the clocks on the wall. The kitchen clock was easy but the one in my livingroom is on the wall above a large homebrew bookcase that houses a lot of the kids stuff and books. It's easier to reach it by standing halfway up the staircase that goes up behind it and I got it down, reset it, and as I was putting it back up managed to slip down 6 steps to land on my posterior and wanged up my heel on my right foot. Also the hour hand popped off the clock but I'm too sore and upset right now to fix that!

Spring forward, fall down; I'm going back to bed!

My DST status.

G4 with Panther - had correct time

G4 with OS 9.2.2 - didn't change time, had to change time zone from Central to Eastern; will probably have to change back to Central in 3 weeks.

G3 Pismo laptop with Tiger - had correct time

New La Crosse Kitchen Clock (atomic/radio controlled) - had correct time

EnviraStation monitor (atomic/radio controlled time & weather) - had correct time

Other battery wall clocks, VCR clock, Oven clock, Microwave clock, Bedroom clocks, Car & Truck clocks - need to manually set.

One battery powered smoke alarm is chirping - need to change battery

My internal biological clock - will have to adjust; usually resets in 24 to 48 hours

Most of the clocks that I use in my house set themselves. Both computers, the digital cable box and the cell phone had no problem going to daylight time.

One disappointment was my bedside clock/radio with "Smart Set". As it turns out, it's not so Smart after all. Now I have to manually set the time zone on this clock FOUR times a year!

I think if Congress decides to stay with the new DST I'll probably just toss the thing. It would be easier to have a manual set clock.

Everything worked as it should have here.

It will take me several weeks to adjust to this change. :-/

This is the clock that says to me that time is permanent and fleeting at the same time; it's a clock that wouldn't care at all about Daylight Savings Time. This clock was sold in an auction in Fairfield Maine for $7,475 and I saw it in a column in my local paper.

I have two "not smart" battery operated alarm clocks and I guess I really don't think much about resetting them; I just do it.

Kimmer: I guess ICE could have been my problem on the stairway but it really wasn't cold enough for it to ice up!

I'll be alright I mostly just wounded my pride!

What was in the coffee?

20 devices to change - I started Saturday morning with the electric clock in the basement, figuring no one was going to go by that clock all day anyway. As the day progressed, I tackled other clocks:
the alarm clock, after my better half awoke
my extra watch I keep in a drawer
the cars, after going to get 'em washed
the thermostat, an hour after it kicked in for the "awake" cycle
the VCR, after it recorded a preset program
the kitchen clocks, after dinner preparations were done
the outside timed lights an hour after they came on

what a chore!

At the risk of getting caught in another leg-pulling joke (I'm really not a blonde - but I can't hear your voice or see your face)

... I meant ... put ICE on your backside and heel. Cold is better than heat for injuries, even if the heat gives you the sensation of good stuff.

Sorry you were hurt but...
The mental picture you drew of the big man ratcheting down the stairs on his backside was hillarious.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago rushing down to the basement to shut the water off. And my basement had a 10 ft ceiling! Steep stairs and lots of 'em. Hurt like the dickens but I was groaning and laughing and hobbleing all the way to the shut off.

My PB 10.3.9 is still running Standard time! I guess I'll have to wait a couple of weeks for it to correct itself.

LR827 - There is a Daylight Savings Patch for 10.3.9 and if you have a fast connection you can probably download it pretty quickly using the software update under the Apple.
