AppleWorks 6 won't boot in my dual 2 GHZ CPU G5
« on: March 13, 2007, 01:44:58 AM »
I just installed AppleWorks 6 in my system (OS 10.4.8). When I tried to open it, I got a message saying, "AppleWorks 6 is not supported by thuis system". Th box clearly states "Built for OS X".

What gives?

updater?
http://www.apple.com/appleworks/update/

This isn't a new reformatted disk is it?
It would happen to be formatted in UFS would it?
Both problems with Airport cards and Applework will not load on a UFS formatted drive.

Just a thought?  coolio.gif

I've heard of HFS and HFS+ but not UFS. dntknw.gif

Problem solved. Searched for all AppleWorks files in main volume. Deleted all that were forund including those that went back to 2001 and were for OS 9! Uninstalled latest install and trhen reinstalled from the DVD. Worked like a charm and AW opened likity (sp?) split. Amazing that there were several thousand AW files on my system even before I installed the first time.

Glad to hear it Mama, my inquiry was a long shot, but I've found this problem on other drives, somehow they click on the wrong reformatting button. wink.gif
here's some USF info if your interested.
