WHat's up with iCal

Hi one and all,

I use 10.3.9 and thursday last I ran automation in Onyx.  The computer restarts, I enter my password, everything loads but at the bottom right of my dock I have an icon named iCalalarmscheduler (which has never happened before). I should mention that I do not use iCal and have no idea why this has now happened. So I click on iCalalarmscheduler and nothing happens. I try to open iCal and get the following message, "An unexpected error occurred (error code 10810)". So I right click on iCalalarmscheduler and click force quit.  I asked my son to restart from his desktop and all of the above was repeated with the same results. Any idea how to correct this?

Sounds like 'something' got installed in the 'Startup items'

Check in your user profile under the 'Startup items" and see if there isn't something "iCal-ish" installed and remove it.... sounds like not all necessary software is available???

If you select 'iCalalarmscheduler' in Accounts/Login Preferences then hit the - (minus symbol) at the botttom of that list), it goes away only temporarily as iCal overrides this setting and pops it back into the list. To turn it off and keep it off go to iCal preferences Advanced and check "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open".

Since you don't use iCal, trash the iCal folder in your User/Library/Application Support

Trash the iCal plist file ''com.apple.iCal.plist in User/Library/Preferences

Go to the Accounts PreferencePane and remove the 'iCalalarmscheduler'

Restart.

One more reason it's not time....

I've never had a problem with iCal.
