The downing of Internet radio

This stinks! mad.gif  mad.gif  mad.gif

I listen to a few online stations, one is for a nationwide show that airs late at night while I snore. From what I read at their site this morning, I won't be able to listen any longer. :insert a billion angry - very angry - smilies here:

Fooey on them, the money grubbing people.
We still can get stuff on iTunes, listen to our really great old(huge) record and tape collections, and buy CDs, and listen to Pandora and others like it.

And this is really interesting, have you ever just tuned in randomly to a non-internet radio station and listened to the pathetic music on it?  Its really so sad, our local high school has musicians so far better than these warbeling critters on radio, that really is a wake up call.
The kids up the street who practise in their garage are way way better! I am not kidding, our own kids are better too.
But I do admit that our kids and the local talent has some classical training, and if they cant sing, they DONT sing.  Thats one key, if you cant sing, then for heavens sake dont!
Just tune in and listen some day, you wont believe how sad/awful some of this new stuff is.
Local talent blows them away!
Jane

I've no use for commercial radio but I do use XM who's under fire as well.

Review: 6 Internet Radio Sites Help You Discover New Music

Internet radio is enjoying an explosion of new services that could make it a viable replacement for broadcast radio -- if the record industry's allies in D.C. don't kill it first.

So, is this for all internet radio or just the iTunes stuff?

If it is for all internet radio, I will be most sad.  One of my greatest losses when moving to Shetland from London was the loss of Classic FM.  I was thrilled to discover I can listen to it again via the internet.

Ah well!

I sometimes listened to the iTunes list but it was quite bad quality sometimes.

Frances - Reading the link it appears that at present it is a US thing, so for the moment at least it will affect only net broadcasters based there. However, if our own copyright 'protectors' think it's a good idea... sad.gif

XM and Sirius will probably just raise rates. I get a lot of my music from downloading songs and recording to CD using Radio Recorder. Boo, hiss, greedy ***tards. rant.gif

If you're really upset by this, read (IT'S SHORT!):

http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/benefit...=v_sym_benefits

And then go here and sign the petition:

http://www3.capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/i...alertid=9631541

But you might also want to calemail your congressman/senator and let them know how you feel, because this is totally unfair, and a move to just eliminate any options to hear and/or introduce yourself to new music.  And, rather that just sending their form letter (box on the right hand side of the page), delete that and add a personal note, to let them know that you really care. . .

^I used that site the other day to fax my reps a personal note. I've yet to hear back from any of them ... but who knows.

It still stinks.

Edited to add: I don't understand the visa link?

Recording radio is the issue that's causing the problem, the industry calls it piracy.

I went individually to my US rep and senators sites and used their forms to contact them. I just got a stock reply from my congressman that it was received, nothing more.

Most of the time I don't think these emails make much of a difference but it couldn't hurt.

Dolphin it shouldn't have any affect on your radio broadcasts, only internet streams.
