thanx.gif Bill!

After making backups, I installed the update on my PPC and Intel machines. In both cases, I used the stand-alone installers and no problems are in evidence (yet).

In both cases, the (required) restarts were slower than normal, but Repairing Permissions and DiskWarrior indicated no issues.

Of course, it's far too early to know if gremlins lurk, so if "gotchas" await, I dunno. dntknw.gif

But so far, all seems normal. cheer.gif

I did the download from Software Update. No problems with the download or installation.  As Harv mentioned, the required restart was slower than normal--even more so than has been the case after other updates. All seems well--but the night is yet young. Paranoid.gif wink.gif

I just printed out some instructions for getting back to a working Mac after some could not log IN after making this update. The instructions and some very simple but very important advice on how to install any Apple upgrade is still on the Friday home page at <MacFixIt>. This may be the first Security update I've ever made! blush-anim-cl.gif Just feelin' lucky this weekend! wallbash.gif smile.gif I usually wait for the OS update to install these automagically, but it took me until a few weeks ago to get from 10.4.3 to .8! And I'm not sure there'll be another one after .9, anyway. Thinking.gif

Just a heads-up of a possible glitch...

When I restarted after installing the upgrade I was no longer connected via Airport.  I had to open Internet Connect and select Airport as my connection method.  When I clicked the "connect" button I was switched to the Airport status window but I still wasn't connected.  I had to turn-off Airport and then turn it back on before the connection "took."

Funny-weird. I have yet to be able to get Airport to work in Tiger. Works in Panther and Jag. Not sure why it won't work in Tiger.  huh.gif

Apparently, this is one of the most resource changing update in recent history. Affects numerous settings in the Kernal related to Airport, Login, etc. Thus the problems of losing the capabilities of very many basic items.

How long have you been working on the Tiger/Airport problem? Been to the Apple Forums? I didn't use Panther but a few days and didn't have Airport then, anyway, so my limited experience is with the space ship model and 10.4.3 & 8. It works fine except I can no longer have the stability of my old wired, router-based, permanently assigned machine addresses. Now, if the Airport ever quits/restarts, I have to reset numerous apps and shared server aliases to the new IP addresses it decides to assign to things. rant.gif
