"Green Eggs & Ham" by Moxy Früvous.  I'm going to track down more of their stuff; kind of weird and a-capella like DaVinci's Notebook!

This morning I listened to Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint on The River in Reverse; quite nice for the AM commute!  Now I've got the Band running on iTunes (The Last Waltz and Rock of Ages).  It tracks nicely after the Toussaint stuff!

Shostakovich - Introduction from The Gadfly.  Probably my favouritist piece ever.  It has everything.  Rallentandos, rits, the works.  Eeks your last breath out.  I wonder where I could find the music to play.

What I really want is the orchestral score or an easy version thereof for orchestra.  I would love to play it with the orchestra I play in (amateurs).

I would accept a piano version, though.  I shall hunt but if anyone knows of a medium effort arrangement, I would be very interested.

Oooh I do love that whole piece!  Makes me stop what I'm doing and think (yeah, yeah, thought you could smell wood burning!)

Sorry, but sadly not - i want a complete orchestral score, not arranged for piano quintet, piano sextet, or string orchestra and piano.  Our piano is so out of tune to be a joke.  I would settle for just piano, ie me at home.

A full orchestral score is what i want or just a solo piano.  Still looking.

I have enjoyed the music of Shostakovich over the years but I'm uncertain I ever heard the Gadfly.  In searching for this piece at the Internet Archive I found the following interesting (to me anyway) work by Doc & Lena Selyanina which is inspired in part by him:

http://www.archive.org/details/mt015

I'm listening to it now and while it's a little experimental I really like it!  It's under the Creative Common's license so it's free for the download!  They even include the artwork for the CD cover.

Well, given my advanced years, it may seem a surprise.

An iTunes Playlist I made up of "Indie" bands. The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Gin Blossoms, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Fratellis and a few others.

I know, it should only be my nieces and nephews who listen to this sort of stuff, but I still haven't grown up rolleyes.gif
