How to open a .ifo attachment?
« on: June 08, 2007, 09:54:32 AM »
My PC friend sent me a video to look at that he shot with a digital camera. He sent it as a .ifo attachment. 128kb in size.
What Mac programs can I use to open and view it?
27" iMac, 2017, 3.47 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1.03 TB HD,
OSX10.14.6 • 15" MacBookPro mid 2012, OSX10 .15.7 • Mac Mini OSX12.16.2 • iPhone 12

Raven, I suspect that they've accidently sent you the wrong file; I don't think the .ifo file is useful by itself!

If my understanding is correct, and this is a big "if", the .ifo is only part of what comprises the actual dvd. The fact that you said that it's only 128kb in size also makes me think it's only part of the dvd.  dntknw.gif Thinking.gif
EDIT:  Rereading gunug's post, I think this is what he was saying.

From Dolphin's link above:
QUOTE
...An info file associated with a .VRO video file. The .VRO file contains the video stream and the .IFO file contains various scene and timing information. This is different from a .VOB file where that information is included in the file. Several manufacturers use .VRO/.IFO files. If present, the file VIDEO_TS.IFO consists of control and playback information for the entire DVD. VIDEO_TS.IFO is known as VMGI (The Video Manager Information file). This file is required to be present on a DVD-compliant disc. .....

I knew I heard it somewhere. (That's what made me go back and reread what you wrote.)  tiphat.gif
