Noise cancelling headphones

Thanks, good stuff. I liked the Bose sound but not the price. I have Sennheisers buds which I really like and hoped that they would offer a better noise reduction headphone, but I see they're not in the running.

I looked int the Panasonics but they're bud fashion

and the AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-ANC7 are $219 not $132

Would that be "blue noise" for flyers?  ..."black noise" at night?

I think "white noise" was the original term, which referred to low volume musak.

I heard recently of another color (which escapes me) referring to low volume sounds that are not music. Of course, that depends on how loosely you define what is or isn't...

SB, Amazon goofed on the Panasonic headphones. Not sure what they've got in the picture, but it ain't the RP-HC500's:

Not so, IMO.  'White noise' is the hissy, all-frequencies-present, sound you get when you purposely tune a radio between stations [there are other times you hear this, or something similar, but that one seems the most universally understood and accepted].

FWIW . . . my 3-year old Bose (Quiet Comfort 2) headet developed a defect in the headband, not fatal, just inconvenient.

I called last week to see if they have a West Coast service facility. They checked my registration and in 10 seconds said, "Send them to this address we'll send you new ones."

That's customer service.

They're also the niftiest accoutrement to air travel you can imagine. Try 7 hours without 'em and you'll see what I mean. clap.gif

I'm sending Dr. Bose a note. clap.gif

Good new Dick, I've always liked Bose, I still have a set of 501 speakers of theirs that work after 35 years. They're big and bulky but boy what sound!! notworthy.gif

Ok, cap'n.
I can't see the color, even with my eyes closed.
