Books, how to determine their worth?

A friend just gave me a lot of 'chick lit' which I dont read, to pass on to the thrift shop or friends.  Nora Roberts and the like.
I picked out a few to see what ratings that Amazon gave them, and was sorting them out.
When I entered "Sisteria" by Sue Margolis into Amazon and found that there were 3 used ones for sale, not for the usual 3 or 4 bucks, but $105.21.
I wonder how the prices are determined?  Anybody here know how or why this silly little book would be this much?

Perhaps I should keep and read this one.

No idea!

You can buy that book on Amazon.co.uk for 0.01p and 21p so I suppose it must be hand-written with original illustrations to cost that much.

If you want another copy, just say the word and I will post it off to you! (for a fee of about $100!)

Its interesting.  Maybe there are no copies of it in USA left?  
Anyway I am going to keep it for a while, and perhaps read it.  But want to read my regular good stuff first.

I'd suggest asking around about a reputable used book dealer in your area. Maybe they will give you an "appraisal". dntknw.gif

I suspect that it was never published in the US and is out of print in the UK, but still, I don't think anyone with half a brain would pay $102 for it, particularly when you can order it from the UK for a pittance. ABE Books in the UK also have it for 50p...

It doesn't appear to be a work of literary genius from the description at Amazon. tongue.gif

It sure isnt, I started to read it last night.  It shall go to our local library book sale when I take the rest of the books Ive gathered tomorrow.
