Firefox & Fuzzy Type
« on: August 12, 2007, 10:30:04 PM »
Firefox is my preferred browser for the most part but it has at least one flaw which is bothersome. Every now and then the type gets fuzzy looking both on the browser page and the tool bar!

Selecting the type on the browser page or mousing over any "live" component in the tool bar corrects the condition until it happens again. That may be on the next new page accessed.

I've looked in the help files but found nothing.

Is this common? Or, might it be the video card in my computer?

Had your eyes checked lately?   wink.gif

Seriously, if you don't see this happening in any other program or in the Finder, I doubt you can blame the video card.

There has been some discussion of overlapping and fuzzy text regarding FF.

Possible fix details removing duplicate fonts:

If that doesn't help try changing your font choice in FF and/or the size choice.

Too bad you aren't running Ubuntu.  Seems there is a setting you can change in their version of FF that alters the antialiasing of fonts which might help .
QUOTE
In firefox, in the address bar type "about:config"
in the filter box type "font.antialias.min"
Right click it and go to modify and make the number like 6 or something

Thanks, Kris. Your first reply hits the nail on the head. I see the same problem as:

I'll spend some time researching the links you've provided.

Thanks Bruce, now that you mention it I've seen this problem!  I'll look around a little on it as well!

I just realize I've seen it a few times too, but not quite as bad as in the image you posted. I've never really worried about it...it just makes the text look a bit like it's bold for me.

FontBook found only one duplicate font. Eliminating that duplicate hasn't helped Firefox.

The problem doesn't always show and when it does, it's not hard to clear it up. I'll just deal with it.
