Hey Krissel. . .
« on: September 17, 2007, 12:15:33 PM »
Just finished reading a book of short stories (NOT my usual fare) compiled by James Patterson, and it had a few of my favorite authors, but added a whole bunch to my list of "must check out"s!

Ted Bell
Steve Berry
Grant Blackwood
Lee Child
David Dun
Heather Graham
James Grippando
Denise Hamilton
Raelynn Hillhouse
Gregg Hurwitz
Alex Kava
J. A. Konrath
Robert Liparulo
David Linn
Eric Van Lustbader
Dennis Lynds
Gayle Lynds
Chris Mooney
David Morrell
Katherine Neville
Michael Palmer
Douglas Preston
Christopher Reich
James Rollins
M.J. Rose
James Siegel
Brad Thorn
M. Diane Vogt
F. Paul Wilson

Also, although I'm not much of a non-fiction reader, I just finished reading Lee Iacocca's new book called, "Where Have All The Leaders Gone?", and I think this book should be required reading for ALL politicians, and all high school kids.  He's very down to earth, easy to understand, and is written in a conversational form, and the guy truly is BRILLIANT!  Short book, and I can almost guarantee that you'll be telling your friends about it!

I'm not krissel, but wink.gif ... I've read/tried several of those authors. Many I didn't care for, but those that I did like from your list:

James Rollins
Fantastic author. I prefer his stand-alone books -- particularly "Map of Bones" and "Ice Hunt". His "Sigma-Force" series is decent. His books are well paced and filled with action. He's also a super nice guy, and takes time to answer email from folks.

Brad Thorn - (sure this isn't Brad THOR?) If so, he's a great author - political thrillers that involve Navy SEALS and such. Fast paced - real page turners that I find hard to put down.

James Grippando - good author, compelling stories with a good pace.

Here's my semi-big list. wink.gif

THRILLERS/ADVENTURE/MYSTERIES - from MOST favorite on down:
James Rollins - particularly "Map of Bones" and "Ice Hunt"
http://jamesrollins.com/

Vince Flynn (read 'em in order if you can) - political thrillers
http://www.vinceflynn.com/
(By the way, he is/was a story consultant for "24")

Brad Thor (read 'em in order if you can) - political thrillers
http://www.bradthor.com
(hate his web site, btw)  tongue.gif

J.D. Robb - Lt. Eve Dallas kicks a** HAHAHA!
http://www.noraroberts.com
Slightly futuristic mysteries
(I don't care for her Nora Roberts books)

David Baldacci
http://www.david-baldacci.com/
He wrote "Absolute Power" - made into movie with Clint Eastwood

Matthew Reilly - esp. "Scarecrow"
http://www.matthewreilly.com/
His books are over-the-top non-stop action/adventure.
They leave me breathless, happy and satisfied when I finish.

James Grippando - esp the Swyteck series
http://www.jamesgrippando.com/

J.A. Jance - mainly the JP Beaumont series
http://jajance.com/

Robert Crais (thanks to kelly!)- esp. Demolition Angel, Hostage
http://robertcrais.com/
Crais began his career writing scripts for television shows such as Hill Street Blues, Cagney & Lacey, Quincy, Miami Vice and L.A. Law.

Chris Grabenstein - esp the Ceepak series

A very limited recommendation:
Jeffery Deaver's "The Blue Nowhere" and "The Devil's Teardrop" are both interesting.
I've never been able to read any of his other books - too gruesome.

I'd like to know who your "favorite authors" are, beacher.
