I feel like if the banner were announcing a TS television program then the theme would have to be Viva Las Vegas!  Wow, I know what number I want to play for Powerball tonight!   :tumbling dice:

computers will work all of the time!"

Reminded me of this thread started by RHP on Sept. 18, 2005. It was entitled, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to US, Woo Hooo!, and ended with this information:

QUOTE
Thank you, TSers, from the still-active TechSurvivors Founders:

• Jepinto (Florida), “The Empress” = Chairperson
• Dreambird (Alberta), Secretary and NS Guru from the Frosty North
• RHPConsult (California), Treasurer and Poet Lariat
• Al (Hawai’i) Administrator and Internal Combustion Guru
• Beacher (Washington), Moderator and The Music Maker
• Kbear (Texas), The Resident Grammar Po-lice
• Kelly (Iowa), Moderator and Der Searchmeister with > 13,000 posts!
• Krissel (New Jersey), Artist/Designer Extraordinaire
• MamaMoose (Oregon), Nope,”he’s” not a “she”!
• Pendragon (Maryland), Moderator & Resident Wit
• Sandbox (Florida). Harley advice and counsel freely given
• Weldiger (North Carolina), Philosopher/Sage of Appalachia - whose own birthday is this very day!

And, now today, the newly appointed Members of our Executive Committee

• Airbusdriver (Tennessee)
• Paddy.(Massachusetts)
• kps (Ontario)
• GaryS (Wisconsin)
• RobW (Pennsylvania)

And, finally, our Retired Founders:

• Talesin (Paris), former Chairperson (retired)
• The Captain Founder, (retired)
• Cymru (Pennsylvania) Founder, (retired)
• Konrad (Pennsylvania) Founder, (retired)
• Spartacus (Berlin) Founder, (retired)

Valuable advice and assistance also provided by . . . Randy Singer, Esq.
And thanks, again and again, to TeeEss’ site host, Diana Brake of Crest Communications

As I read all those names, I was sad. sad.gif I remember better times. I remember camaraderie. I remember a closeness. I remember when I never, ever even thought about ignoring someone who posted here. Yet the other day I most reluctantly placed someone on my ignore list -- it was that, or leave TS. sad.gif

I feel especially sad because so many of these fine folks* now have either Founder-Emeritus or Admin Retired next to their names -- and nothing was said here on the board thanking them for their years of service.

I read, as did many of the rest of us, the 2 public apologies that were put forth, so I know there were problems; but to not even mention that folks have stepped down, to not even thank them -- just isn't right.

So as we sailed by another anniversary, I'd like to extend my thanks to those who still serve ... and especially to those who helped to shape and form this place for so many -- and are no longer serving in that capacity.

*Founder-Emeritus or Admin Retired:
RHPConsult
Beacher
Kbear
Pendragon
Weldiger
Airbusdriver
kps
GaryS
RobW

I tip my hat to you folks!

Kimmer: Thank you so much for that.  It's so sad when relationships of any sort go wrong. I was aware there were problems behind the scenes but as an "ordinary member" it was very difficult to express feelings without greater knowledge and involvement and I didn't know where to start. You could not have done the job better.

I too would add my gratitude to all the people who created this forum. It's still a place to be visited every day.

kimmer-I agree.  It is sad that so many streams washed under the bridge, without our members knowing exactly why the boats traveling those streams sailed.

It's a VERY long story, one that I, personally, have trouble discussing.  And if I told the story, you would only get one side.  And then another would come along with his side (no, I'm not pointing at any ONE-look at the names, they are all hims) AND the whole thing would be relived.

Some felt strongly one way, some another.  Some no longer have the time, some have too much time and too many other interests.

I might suggest you contact the people involved-privately-and ask. You should have each one's address.  Mine hasn't changed; it is jepinto AT techsurvivors.net  Dreambird, krissel, MamaMoose, Sandbox, kelly, Paddy, kbeatx, and Al can also be reached by their screen name and AT techsurvivors.net
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.

Lightfoot Gordon - Race Among The Ruins

You think you had the last laugh
Now you know this can't be true
Even though the sun shines down upon you now
Sometimes you must feel blue
You make the best of each new day
You try not to be sad
Even though the sky falls down upon you
Call it midnight feelin' bad

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world comin' true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew
Away you will go sailin'
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow
Do it soon

The road to love is littered
By the bones of other ones
Who by the magic of the moment
Were mysteriously undone
You try to understand it
But you never seem to find
Any kind of freedom comin' clean
Is just another state of mind

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world comin' true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew
Away you will go sailin'
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow
Do it soon

So take the best of all that's left
You know this cannot last
Even though your mother was you maker
>From her apron strings you pass
Just think about the fool
Who by his virtue can be found
In a most unusual situation
Playin' jester to the clown

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world comin' true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew
Away you will go sailin'
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow
Do it soon

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world comin' true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew
Away you will go sailin'
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow
Do it soon

Everything changes, nothing stays the same...(who said that anyway?)

I have found TS to be like an online neighborhood, in many ways.

The community here is such a rich mosaic of people and their ideas and knowledge. I personally am very grateful to the Admins at large over what has been created here and how it has been sustained. While I too have seen a change in the tone of posts over the few years I've been around here, nothing worth having comes without a fight or two sometimes. I don't know what happened, I only saw one of the public apologies... but evolution sometimes doesn't come without conflict.

My point is that TS is a gold mine of knowledge and ideas. I have, and continue to, learn a lot about computers, and sometimes about myself. My life has been enriched greatly by the online friendships developed here and the gentle (mostly) prodding and suggestions made by most of the members of this forum.

Occasionally, you get a renter who moves into the house down the street who's noisy, obnoxious, drives their car too fast, someone who just doesn't get what living in the neighborhood is all about. For instance, we have a house down the street that used to have a family in it, now it's been bought by some out-of-stater who rents it out, and most of the renters have been folks who just don't get what living on a dirt road up in the hills is all about.

Unfortunately, there are some increasing instances here at TS that are not unlike those renters... but the TS neighborhood has been steadily expanding, and there are going to be some folks who just don't get it. We can only hope that they learn, or eventually leave the neighborhood.

Thanks Kimmer for reposting RHP's thread, it is a reminder to us all how much hard work the admins have and continue to put into our community here at TS. I am sorry that there has been conflict, hopefully it will end up going in a positive direction at some point.

Chris, I think it was "The more things change, the more they stay the same." wink.gif

I also want to extend my thanks to all those who have "retired" from the Admin side for all their time and effort. I was not aware of all of those "retirements" either. Thanks, kimmer for giving us the chance to thank them all. Most remain "semi-active" posters, just like us "regular" members. They haven't left the neighborhood, and for that we can be grateful. I still believe the Community Forum is aptly named. Echoing another comment, I choose to look on the bright side, or to close my eyes. smile.gif

Honestly, I wasn't asking for the "why's". I'm simply bothered that so many admin left -- at the same time, or close to it -- and NOTHING was said to THANK THEM for their service. Even if some of them left because there were issues within the admin group, a public acknowledgment that changes had taken place, and a public THANK YOU to those who were no longer serving as volunteers would have been the better part of valor, IMHO.

I might suggest you contact the people involved-privately-and ask.

I considered this, but I've been pretty busy and haven't had time. Besides, it was stated that the hope was that if a member had a real concern, they would post said concern.

As I said, the "why's" aren't the real issue -- it's the lack of courtesy that concerns me. So when I saw this thread I figured I'd at least say thanks to those that are no longer here. I miss them. I miss their wit, their help, their encouragement, their stability. TS is not the same place it was just a few months ago -- and that makes me sad.

You should have each one's address.

Actually I don't, so thanks for the info. wink.gif I keep a pretty small address book. Only have email addys to 2 folks from here, and (until now), I only had 4 admin contacts (because I've chatted privately with those folks). But I guess I could have figured the "at ts" if I'd thought about it. biggrin.gif

Anyhoo ... thanks again to those who pay the bills now and special thanks to those who paid the bills in the past. TS is still a haven on the web for me and your efforts are much appreciated.

So Gregg, yes you caught me, I was trying to make light of what has been happening here at TS eek2.gif and you are, in this event the grammer police.gif

EDIT: and IA(MWH)WK notworthy.gif

I had no idea we had lost such a large group of the admins. Must have been one h... of a disagreement.

You all have much to be proud of, this has been an outstanding Forum. May it continue to be so, even if right now the clouds seem dark and brooding. I thank you too for all your hard work, time and all the support you have given over the years TS has been here. clap.gif
