Keyboard 'Back' button
« on: September 22, 2007, 02:15:14 PM »
Using the Trackpad on my trusty little PowerBook is not something I prefer, but I'm learning to use it proficiently instead of also schlepping around my Big Cursor Controller of Choice, a Kensington Expert Mouse [optical precision laser-controlled, four user-configurable buttons as well as a scroll ring].

I have often wished for a keyboard shortcut for going 'Back' in my browser [a frequently accessed function that normally requires significant cursor activity].

Well, a few minutes ago, I discovered, quite by accident, in Firefox 2.0.0.7, that unless I'm in 'Edit Mode', such as composing this post, pressing the 'Delete' key on the PB's kybd Takes Me Back!

I dunno if this is News to anniebunny elts, or whether this functionality is unique to FF, but on the chantz that somebunny in addition to me will find this tidbit of info useful, I posted this.

I assume you've always been using command-left arrow? Or command-[? Of course, the other right arrow and the ] take you 'back' the other way. At least in most browsers. smile.gif I'll probably forget the 'delete' key! blush-anim-cl.gif

BTW, good to see you back in these parts! You've been too long on the 'trail!' welcome.gif

The "back" to the last page in the same Tab on my iBook is Apple [ or (command [)
To go back a Tab is (command left arrow) and forward a tab is right arrow.
use (command shift ?) to go to Firefox Help, write "keyboard" select "keyboard shortcuts" and there you'll be exposed to world of speed and convenience.

You know, I've been introduced to some of those keyboard shortcuts in the past. But, if I don't use it, I lose it. I tend to fall back on my already established habits.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
