TS Slow as molasses in January?
« on: February 03, 2008, 08:38:02 PM »
At first I thought it was FF. Now even Safari is having problems. Could be just my route to ASO? I even had a complete failure to reach TS about 3:30 (CST) this afternoon. One thread is trying to load in FF after Quitting FF and closing all tabs but that thread. Been at least 5 minutes. wallbash.gif We'll see how long it takes to get this sent (on Safari). Starting at 8:38:00 CST.

Grew tired of waiting for the page to come back at 8:51:33. Refreshed main Tech listing and that finished at 8:51:57 showing this new thread actually had been loaded/accepted. Stranger thing is that most of the links to other parts of TS worked much quicker, almost at normal speeds. doh.gif

Is that game still in progress? Maybe everyone on my cable node is watching it via the 'net? dntknw.gif Or else, my route to ASO goes through the Suez Canal! laugh.gif

Apparently no one else here is having troubles, that's good! smile.gif Oh well...sleep1.gif

No issues right now for me, Jim. smile.gif Wasn't around earlier...(and no - I wasn't watching the game!)

I got an error message, and the page wouldn't load on a second attempt either. So I watched that game. It was a good one!

Agree, Bob! Things back to normal (fast!) this AM. I'm betting the game had something to do with it. Who won, anyway? Haven't even looked at the paper or turned on the radio yet. smile.gif

Actually, there was one point yesterday when a reply to a thread wouldn't post for me - got tired of waiting, went off and came back and it said lost connection with server or some such. Of course, then I couldn't just hit the back button and recover what I'd written! sad.gif But redid the reply (shorter!) and had no problems the second time, so whatever it was, it was a very on-and-off issue.

It's not the first time I've seen this behavior. Each time, my post has been accepted, I just never get returned to the thread. Seems like the server/software 'forgets' what it's supposed to be doing. dntknw.gif So far, I haven't lost any of my extremely helpful, illuminating and expert posts! tease.gif Even though it appears that some should have 'disappeared.' blush-anim-cl.gif

This time the post didn't make it through...

First attempt to reach TS was rewarded with an almost immediate "Unable to locate..." Used Network Utility and was able to reach ASO no problem. Came back here and got the Tech list and attempted to open this thread and four others showing new posts. This post loaded, almost. Spinning pizza never quit. Strange thing is that it seemed to be unable to locate/download the 'smilies' and the Edit, Quote and Reply buttons. Canelled the loading and did a refresh and the page loaded normally. However, the attempt to add the post (using the Fast Reply method) resulted in another, immediate "Unable to locate..." Finally closed the page and went elsewhere.

The other four tabs never loading anything except the "Unable to locate..."

Hope this is just on my end. FF 2.0.0.4, Core2 Dou iMac, FF caching set to zero everywhere I can find a setting.

Of course, coming back in five minutes, TS seems to load fine. wallbash.gif Including the four other threads. dntknw.gif

Here goes another "Add Reply" attempt... :crossed fingers:

Immediately got the "Unable to locate..." alert but it loaded, anyway. Could not even refresh the Tech list. Simply went away and returned a few minutes later. wallbash.gif

I've been bumping into this same thing for several weeks. Both here and at my own board -- which is hosted at ASO. ASO told me it was my connection to the internet. dntknw.gif

Well, I just logged on and things are fine.  smile.gif

Was at my folks' yesterday watching the game of course (NY Giants are my Mom's favorite). Was a really good game. That amazing eluding by Manning and the subsequent miracle catch by Tyree was unbelievable. Both teams were pretty equal in ability but that one play made the difference.

Seems the ASO server (Ana Lucia) has been having hiccups. She must have been a Patriot fan.  toothgrin.gif
