I remember a phrase from my Art History classes back in th 1970's: "Which are you drinking, the water or the wave?"  Is the design only a difference in shape that means nothing or is it a change in the ease and degree of functionality.  If a design just for the purposes of looking different then why bother.  I don't find any merit in the room divider or salt and pepper shakers in their original or the copy versions and a watch is just a watch unless it's tougher or has a built in flash drive.  I'm not saying they should have their designs knocked off but maybe it's too easy to get a patent or a copyright!

I don't think the rip-off "designers" were looking for any artistic/innovation awards, gunug. Their concerns never went beyond their bank accounts, IMHO. Secondarily, all the designs shown were extremely basic, a few were quite complicated but easy to copy, none the less. Simple, clean, modernistic designs, while very popular, are even easier to replicate, I'm afraid. sad.gif

Shoot! There are copyright infringement lawsuits in the design of buildings too! Even intellectual property deserves protection, IMO.
