Don't ask me why, but I downloaded it.      So far, so good. Not sure what's different, but what the heck--now that I'm on OSX, I'm a cutting edge kind of Mac user.

Yes it was for the better, i noticed a change in my graphics when my Marine Aquarium comes on, and I have not had to reinstall my driver for my Lexmark All in 1 at all today, burning a CD was somewhat faster, but had a problem before with it when i was only able to burn at a speed of 4X, now I actualy can burn at the maxium speed with the CDburner.

I am very pleased with the update, as well as installing the 256mb/144 pin ram.  I think that may have helped with the speed, but I didn't notice the change until I downloaded the upgrade from apple today.

I got the speed and was ready to burn...

& had no problems at all today.

Well, I have to add that this update went fine on my B&W, but hosed my PHP settings or files on my beige G3.  Everything normal worked fine, but my bulletin board software that I installed on the beige completely stopped functioning after the update.  A quick reinstall of PHP and a restart of my MySQL server and all is well.  Only 2 hours of lost time.

Like most others, my DL and install was much the non-event. And for that, I'll not complain, but rather be enthraled with the mystery of it all.

Al, apparently the update overwrites some config files. Came across this fix for PHP, might be worth saving for the next time?

TechSurvivors' Principles Nr 287a:

On updates, follow the lead of Sir Pendragon, as do those wild-and-krazy-early-adopters, RobW and RHPConsult.

Onward and Upward!

PS: So far so good

PS Nr 2:  First rewarding discovery. 10.2.4 solved my printing problem that none of you will remember and I can't forget: Pismo wouldn't print to an HP 4MV tabloid printer over our little LAN except in a washed-out, bluish print.

Nooooooo longer. Everything fixed . . . somehow, by 10.2.4

Hooray!

RHP, I must admit that when I did this it was strictly an "impulse update"! I had no intentions of doing it at that moment--I had some stuff to do, and a daughter was waiting to use the computer. So, what better time is there to do a 40 MB download, update your OS with a version that's been out for about 18 minutes, and after you're done, tell daughter that she has to wait until you've repaired permissions. Oh yeah, I was a popular guy last evening.        So why, you ask did I do it then?? "Because it was there."

kps, THANK YOU!

Definitely saved, hopefully I won't have to use it, but that's great insurance anyways and it would have saved a bunch of headaches this time.

Funny, the Software Update panel speaks of enhancements to "Graphics, OpenGL, and Sherlock", but I don't see these mentioned in the Knowledge Base article Rob links to.
I'm currently downloading this one to my desktop and I'll scout around a bit first because I've got quite a bit of 3rd party software installed.

Installed 2.4. with zero problems.

The only thing that really scared me was when I first decided to give it test run on the net and then open some apps etc.
----- BUT ----- the first place I zipped to was TS before firing up whatevers.
TS loaded ok. Then I opened a thread to see how ....

Diana's Cat pics scared the tar out of me!!!!!!

WHAT DID THIS UPDATE DO ANYWAYS?
