Printing of several files

iMac G5 rev.A OS 10.4.11

I have a folder with 3 MS Word documents and 5 Appleworks Drafting documents. There are no other file in the folder. Is there a way I could print these documents with a single print command?

Don't know of any method and can't find anything other than this Applescript which works on some things, but not Word, according to the comments posted.

I've never heard of anything doing "batch printing" other than AutoCad. If other programs would do it, I suspect someone at my office would have set it up for us to use. Did you try to Google that as a topic?

Open a Finder Window.
Select the files you want to print (command-click after the first one, of course).
Use the "Print" item in the File Menu of the Finder. Note it does not have a keyboard shortcut.
Any apps required should open and the selected files should be printed.

I just tested this with a ".txt" file and an ".html" file. TextEdit-Plus opened the text file and BBEdit opened the html file. Both printed just fine.

Of course, all the files would need to be in the same level of any directory. It appears that you cannot select items in different folders at the same time.

Also, the required apps will also remain open. That may not be what you want/need.

Thanks xABD. But when I followed your procedure, the selected files, 2 .doc and 5 .cwk, opened OK but failed to print. I had to select and print each of the opened files. Would I be missing a preference selection somewhere? I don’t see a related one in the Finder.

No preference that I know of. I think it's been a normal System function way back to OS 8 or earlier.
