Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac
« on: March 24, 2008, 12:48:44 PM »
http://www.macworld.com/article/132649/2008/03/elements.html

$89.99 for the full version or $69.99 for the upgrade - no rebate involved as far as I can see, contrary to the MW article. Free shipping in the US if you order today and want the boxed version - or just download it, which is the environmentally friendly way, as I noted in my post at MacWorld. It's also the method of choice for the impatient who cannot wait another week! wink.gif

I called last week to get a third person to confirm that a free upgrade is allowed for those who purchased version 4 just before or after the announcement in early January. And also to make sure they knew I'm still around and expecting the free upgrade. Not sure that the far eastern 'support' is as reliable as the last two people I talked to but they all seem to at least have the same story (probably the same text on their screens!). smile.gif They have all said the ship/order date is Mar 26 (Wednesday). You can be sure I'll be listening to the Muszac(sp?) as long as it may take to reach the Sales Desk! smile.gif

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still playing with PSE 3. Bet it will be a culture shock if I upgrade.

Then again, maybe I can find a real deal on PSE 4 or PSE 5. biggrin.gif

Kimmer, PSE 6 is supposed to have a lot of good stuff. For $69 (you qualify for the upgrade price) it's a bargain. smile.gif

I can't get to the store. Keep getting all kinds of error messages, complete with "the admin knows about this".

Guess everyone is queuing up to buy it. biggrin.gif

Is the price break shown at the store? How do they verify I have PSE 3?

The store doesn't verify that you have PSE 3 - when you go to install the upgrade version, it will go looking for the existing install and/or ask you for your existing serial number. smile.gif

$69.99 for the upgrade - $89.99 for the full install. Amazon is selling the full install for $81 I think - and MacMall has it for $79.

I'll try the store later today and see if I can get in to shop. smile.gif

Hold everything....seems Adobe have jumped the gun a bit. Here's a post from that MacWorld thread I posted in:

QUOTE
At 2:14AM (EST) I received this:

"Thank you very much for ordering from the Adobe Store!

The following products from order AD001439057 are now available for download:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh (Mac,English)
Contact Customer Service" blah, blah (download instructions)"

There's just 1 catch. After downloading; NO SERIAL NUMBER.. On the download page, your are instructed to "Contact Customer Service". And you can't use trial mode. it's greyed out. Please.... I mean, why release software if the user can't use it?

Anyway, sent a message to Customer Server. I"d be surprised if I hear back from them within the week. Way to go Adobe. And shame on MacWorld for not checking this out before being Adobe's blow horn.

I'd wait until this gets cleared up, Kimmer!!

You can't pay enough for version 5, kimmer, even if you could find a Mac copy. It was never released/created. tongue.gif

Last week I was told the release date was the 26th. But that may be the actual date where the tech support works, not in the US of A! laugh.gif

Whatever you do, don't lose that sticker on your original invoice/box. Make copies, store in different places, etc. Although you might try to memorize it, I think it's only 16 numbers...wallbash.gif

The site problems don't make much sense, it's not like they have an over abundance of Mac support! dntknw.gif It's been years since the last update. Way to go Adobe, we appreciate your continued support for the company that got you started. coolio.gif

Oh nooooooooo ... I don't have the original box. Not after our move. Not sure I saved the sticker/end piece either. I'll have to dig through my box of software stuff and see if I can find the original disk. Hopefully I wrote the serial number on there. If not ... I'll probably skip the upgrade. wink.gif

Adobe is not giving us a deal with the upgrade download, they charge you $20.00 for the manual.  $69.95 + $20.00 = $89.95 and no DVD.

Dick, they don't give you a manual in the boxed version either these days!! The last time I got a printed manual for anything from Adobe was probably Photoshop 6. It's all pretty much in the Help menu anyway. And you can burn your own DVD, I think. smile.gif

And the Adobe Manuals were never as good as things like the Visual Quick Start Guides - Adobe is famous for incomprehensible manuals. wink.gif

There is also a heck of a lot online too - and again, it's often clearer than anything Adobe publishes!!

What is this thing called a "manual?!" dntknw.gif tongue.gif Is that why Pogue keeps writing those "Missing Manuals" books? Their better than anything I've ever seen from a software company! clap.gif

Don't worry too much, kimmer, just call their number and ask them to look it up for you. They love to be helpful that way! Of course, you will need the exact date you ordered it and the time of day plus your exact age and weight at that time. It's a little know secret but that's actually where the serial number comes from. They take all those digits, mix them up and generate the number from them. wallbash.gif coolio.gif

*snort*  I'm sure I purchased it on the 7th Tuesday of the 15th month of the 200th year around 28:00 hours. rolleyes.gif

I just launched PSE, selected "About", took a screen capture and I now have my serial number. smile.gif

Just waiting for the "it's really available" note from y'all.

And manuals ... I hate manuals. I dropped in at the cell phone store the other day. Had a new icon on my screen and didn't know what it was or how to get rid of it. The goofball behind the counter asked me, "Did you read the manual?" HAHAHAHA  I smiled and told him, "Oh suuuurrrrrrrreeeee." His co-worker came over, took my phone, said, "That's odd", and went to find out what the icon was. She couldn't find it in the manual. (neener- neener)  We finally did figure it out, and how to get rid of it too ... and all it took was some manual labor. LOL!

Kimmer, someone at MacWorld has just reported that he has now received his serial number via email from Adobe. So, looks like it's good to go, though may take a few hours to get the serial. smile.gif
