Mac Mini running Tiger......

Have had no problems with this machine until now. It's my mother's who knows virtually very little and doesn't even use it often as she has an iBook, but it's there for her when she needs it.

Anyway, she had problems with it not wanting to finish the boot process.

I can restart the machine, zap the pram, unplugged all but the necessary USB periphs, but it still continues to do the same thing - it will paint the background of the desktop with the typical blue color and then I get the spinner (the grey one with the lines...) and then it's as if the system is caught in an endless loop.

It's crazy. The screen jumps like it's trying to reload the window manager and then goes back to try and chomp at the blue background.

Ideas/suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks, all.

Later.

Chris

If you can boot to CD, you may have to do an Archive and Install.

K-
Honestly, I haven't done any troubleshooting on a mac in so long I'm feeling a bit like Mater from the movie Cars.....but, thanks for the suggestion.
Good to uh, see you again. biggrin.gif

Kris-
I was hoping to not have to do that, but whatever I need to get her up and running.
She's got a new Toshiba lappy that should make it to her by Friday, so I suspect I'll be setting that up before I mess with the mini anyway. I kind of figure I'll probably be spending time with the new one this weekend, so the earliest I'll be able to look at the mini is next weekend.

Thanks so much for the suggestions.

Take care,

Chris
