Hey
SB, I know you're going to think I've been into mamas Sherry but what the ...
I've had an extra copy of toast in my apps partition which I had an alias in my 9.2.2. partition along with the toast copy I have there. Plus an older copy of toast deluxe is in the apps partition.
Well I upgraded (the intention was at least) the toast in the apps to 5.2.1.
What the upgrade did instead is create its own folder in the apps and left the 5.1.3. alone in perfect working order.
Just for the heck of it I created all new alias from every single toast everywhere (including the one in Jag) and brought them over to the OS 9.2.2. partition.
There I put them in my apple menu inside my 'programs/apps' folder.
Now I have two external burners in line (at the moment) on this machine plus the internal superdrive.
First I fired up each alias and made sure they were pointing back towards their papa.
Then burnt a cd-r with each in the cd-r to cd-r and folder to cd-r mode.
All did-it-to-it just fine and they recognized my two externals when on plus the internal.
So .... hmmm ....
Fired up the three 5.2.1. toast [9,apps and Jag] on the DT in 9.2.2. and had each assigned to their burner (Lacie,Yamaha and the internal).
Dragged a test folder out onto the DT which has 660mbs of oddball stuff in it.
Let them RIP all at the same time. <gr>
Everyone came out fine even through the verification phase.
The Lacie 52x made it to the finish line first with the Yamaha 24x not a close second but had plenty of strength left over for a another go-around.
Both the externals took a long cat-nap waiting for the internal 8x to huff and puff it over the finish line.
LaCie full throttle - time = 2.15
Yamaha full throttle - time = 4.45
Internal I didn't stick a casio on it but it must of been around 12 plus minutes.
Then I fired up my backup 5.1.3. and the toast deluxe 4.1.3. and ran another race.
Neither wanted to get in high gear,so I let them RIP at a slower speed.
Both cooked just fine but the deluxe must of stumbled cus it was tired in the end. <GR>
Dawned on me that I have a toast in my spare-Jag also. Could of put him in the race also. Duh!
Now I suppose I could drag an alias of the toast in the apps partition (5.2.1 or 5.1.3.) over to JAG and fire those off and the one in JAG and have another race without classic kicking in. Not sure because the toast extensions are in a OS 9 system.?.
Doubt if I could pop an alias from 9.2.2. over and not have classic kick in though.
Have ta give that a shot another time.
Choice: Mow these blasted weeds for a lawn on a nice sunny day or play around with toast.
Tough choice!
Sherry anyone.
