And I ain't misteakin'.  I ripped the song from a KT album several years ago. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Yes, you are mistaken [which is a real word, not some slang term like you created, look it up.

How long are you gonna stick to that story in the face of mounting evidence to the contrary?

The version that Kris found [great sleuthing, BTW!] is indubitably the same as Neil's clip, and it was recorded in 2003 by Roger McGuinn [just as I opined at the outset of this conversation] as part of his Folk Den Project, which is still ongoing today.

Vindication is mine!!!!

[yes, I can clearly hear Ben Franklin's voice saying, 'eh, a little overboard, isn't it?' and it's true whistling.gif ]

Why do I have this urge to say something along the lines of, "Boys. Boys. If you can't play nicely together, then I'll just have to confiscate all your CD's and send you to your rooms without supper?"

I was trying to pick up the Rickenbacker but couldn't distinguish it from the other strings.
Shows to go yah, there are some great sleuther's around here.  toothgrin.gif

I've had some exposure to the Byrds, especially where David Crosby played. wink.gif

Well Jack, I've posted a  clip from the recording you sent me and - much as it pains me in view of kbear's OTT behaviour biggrin.gif - have to say it sounds UNCANNILY like the one I've got AND the one Kris found.... at 4min 27sec it's even the same length! First clip is from the mp3 you sent, the second is from my original post so you don't have to go scrolling back.

Reckon we have to accept Kris's link as "independent arbitration".

Good thing I'm just a dumb blues guitar player... and actually, I wouldn't have had a clue here...

Maybe Kbear had one cup of coffee too many yesterday!  Devilish2.gif  tease.gif

Kenny, remind me to never mess around with you on matters of musical history!  boxing.gif

The Classic McGuinn signature sound!  It's in there, noticed it later in the take, might not be audible on speakers [eye wuzz heerin' et uvvr heffones]. thumbup.gif

Well, there might be, but in mic ace, I did not make the relocation directly: lived in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for eighteen years beef-ore making the move to the Loan Star State... toothgrin.gif
