What posts do you read and why?
« on: May 11, 2003, 11:12:40 AM »
Looking at the viewed column, I see some topics [posts] get a greater number of views than others. I'm just wondering what makes YOU read one post over another.

To clarify my vote: Choice #4

Depending on my free time, I will sometimes read all posts that are current.

However, I usually don't have the time to read everything, so I target the threads that seem to be receiving the most hits.

Finally, if the post topic catches my eye because it seems familiar, I check it out. huh.gif

I read everything..most of the time. smile.gif I do have to qualify that. I generally read the beginning of each new thread. If my interest holds, I read it anew each time something is added. If it progresses past my interest, I will sometimes wait until it appears to be "finished" and has moved to the bottom of my list of new posts...then I'll read it one last time to make sure I didn't miss something. Often I'm rewarded because I'll find I really was interested to the end, or some great side-thread was started that I never saw coming..smile.gif

see ya,
Diana

I read them all. smile.gif

It's not that hard if you visit every day.

If you only stop by once in a while that would be hard to do. smile.gif

Seriously {for real}
I try to read what is new [time pending] when coming here plus ones where I commented in.
Also threads that could/might interest some situation I've run across.
As far as the titles go,I'm not one for titles. Titles of threads can be deceiving unless one takes a peek.
Yeah I know, titles are supposed to be the -'eye catcher'- but so is -YO! Canadian hot-tub Girl!
Ya know Dream will catch that in a flash let alone every Tom-dick and Harry wondering what the skinny is.

I remember Mayo used to stick titles up that was close to a paragraph. Didn't need to get in the thread. He already said it. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

If time allows an individual ... information, entertainment are available.
Goofball threads/post .... we won't go there. <gr>

I try and read as many as I can each day.

I never thought about it until now.

Never thought much about my "criteria" either.

They are both What and Who. The first is akin to checking the "Yellow Pages"; the second is similar to chatting with friends you might want to greet on "Main Street" when walking through our "village" . . . I guess

There are "people" I'll  read irrespective of title, and titles that seem particularly compelling at the moment based on a curent problem.

It's likely, as I recall, that I'll remember a title from the past, the thread for which I may not have read at the time, that I'll try to find for some new issue that has arisen subsequently. Then, I'll wish I'd read everything, but I don't really have time for that, 'cause I don't folllow the Kelly Principle:  Read Everything, Every Day

I never read anything, I don't have time! And I never vote in any polls, there are never enough questions to cover all possibilities, just like this one, which I didn't vote in nor read. And I didn't read what all the people above this post wrote, either. harhar.gif But I do agree with most of them. doh.gif

I'll post a new topic about my thoughts that all are anxously awaiting as soon as I read all the interesting topics that have had more replys than views, I may even create a poll about that...

Anyway, I sure am glad you 'guys' got the new software running! notworthy.gif What a great mother's day gift! clap.gif

For me, there is a HUGE variability in what I read - some days I'll get around to reading all the posts (though I'll admit I don't bother with ones about football teams...sorry guys wink.gif ), but lately, my time has been extremely limited as we head towards Town Meeting in North Andover (tomorrow night) - and my web work has been piling up and up. I'm playing hooky right now even - the dust bunnies are on a rampage and there are going to be 10 people here for a meeting at 8:30 tomorrow morning.   blink.gif

Too bad Martha has never written a book about the joys of decorating with dust bunnies....

I read most, but not all links. And some in far more detail than others. Because posts so often wander off the original topic, I find that sometimes I do have an interest in a topic that did not initially interest me. So yeah, I at least scan most posts.

And of course, I also save everything posted by Bernie.

It really depends on how much time I have. If things are calm, I'll read (or at least skim) through most of the posts. If things are really busy it depends on the subject heading--unless it's posted by Bill--then I just gotta find the time.  laugh.gif

I choose option 2 (post that seems interesting to me) although i also pick posts that i feel might be use to me in future or that i think they are learnfull to me.
I always read the question pretty secure and if it's interesting i read the answers people made.
For me, and due to the time difference lots of questions are already answered by the time i go online.
Not that i'm good in answering anyway, but it's also pretty fun to read answer and to learn that way smile.gif

(and now i just spilled tomatoe sauce between the "o" and the "l" key, lol biggrin.gif)
