Star Trek "Nemesis"
« on: May 21, 2003, 10:51:33 AM »
If you haven't seen the movie yet, I'd rent the dvd (or vhs if available) first before considering purchasing for completing the collection.
Nemesis wasn't as bad as the credits claimed but it did have the same old story plot.
Special effects wasn't too bad in some scenes, though outdated/behind the times considering the other hot movies out.

I opted for the buy just to complete the collection since that's it [as far I know] for Star Trek.
The local Wal-Mart had them for $13.96

Samsclub $17.95 and heard bestbuy was around the same as Sams.

I just wait for them all to come to Cable Bill. smile.gif

My Cable bill is insanely high.

I can only justify it by not renting movies on top of it.

Just saw Spiderman last week for example.

95% of what I get is just pure junk.

Too bad I can't just get the 5% I want. smile.gif

I saw Nemesis on board on way home from Boston.
Was a little dissapointed though, but maybe it's cause i'm used to my DTS surround set, and had to miss the sound biggrin.gif
Still, like you said, it wasn't to bad.

I dropped cable when they upped the cost and dropped the channels with still 95% "pure junk" Kelly.
Went to the basic plan but might drop that as well.

MB, the sound effects through my system was ok but nothing to scream about.

Bottom line.
Gene Roddenberrys wife never really had the 'true' imagination it takes for that kind of movie.

 True Bill sad.gif
I felt confused when i learned that Jonathan Frakes wouldn't direct the movie anymore, cause i do believe he did a great job on his movies ("First Contact" and "Insurection").
Although "Insurection" was kinda weak off story biggrin.gif

Just checked the credits MB and Franks is still in there but in name only I suspect.

After all, once your name is in a major production ... fat city for life. smile.gif

Know a guy I hooked up with a cell phone company many years ago for a job.
He went up the latter there but his heart was in music.
He got hooked up with some c rated musicals in LA some years back.
Someone heard/liked his work. Bounced him up a few higher class musicals.
Finely after a lot of hard work (and brown nosing I suppose) he got his name in some better credits.
From there all sorts of doors opened up for him.
Monetary wise, last I heard he's in the six digit numbers traveling the globe. smile.gif
Mentally wise, heard he now has his nose stuck up so high God is beneath him
Sad because he was a great happy-go-lucky kid.

Yeah, i know what you mean Bill.
Also, it's sad to see how money can change (most) people for the worse sad.gif
I guess he's happy now, doing the stuff that he likes, but sometimes i feel that it's taking to much of a person, even when it's a dream coming trough for that person. blush-anim-cl.gif

Yep MB. Money can do some strange changing in a persons mind real fast.
Wouldn't mind one bit to find out first hand though! smile.gif smile.gif

I plan to buy the VHS myself... not so much because it was the best Star Trek movie I ever saw, but I have all the rest.

It wasn't all that bad anyway, I did enjoy it even if it did follow a standard sort of story line. I "do" hope it's the last of the "old" crew ST movies... there just isn't anywhere else to go IMHO.

Well Dream.

How about if Wesley Crusher comes back as the head honcho of the borg along side that queen thingie.

OR.

Q and his kid come back. The kid could go all sorts of story paths for writers.

Oh .. there could be other stories written which could fill up years of air time.

Lots of bad boys out in space land. <gr>
The fans are already in place. Which in turn brings in the coins.
They just need the capital backing and a good imagination.

Hmmm... yeah you're right about that Bill, but I think if they're going to carry on with the Star Trek theme I might rather find out what happened with Deep Space Nine... the finale on that was a cliffhanger and wide enough open to speculation...

One thing I was a little disappointed about with Nemesis was that this was the first mention made of Romulus's sister planet Remus since what?... the original series. Guess I would have liked to know more about it... OTOH, what do you suppose happens on Vulcan's sister planet?  whistling.gif
