In my opinion (and even with this nasty headache) i still feel that the Star Trek movies are still the best as it comes to a pure Sience Fiction movie.
The quality of the movies is always superb and the space scenes and everything around it always looks "real" to me.
I think the problem is that people are haning on to the "older" series to much, and expect the movies these days to be like that.
I, however, always felt that the series were different than the movies cause the movies could show us lots more dept than they could ever show us in the series.
If you look at the quality of the "Nemessis" movie (and i'm not talking about the story line) than you notice that there's no science fiction movie who can compare to that.
Sure we had "Blade Runner" who was visual just awesome but i'm happy to learn about other awesome science fiction movies?
Star Wars? well they are great to, but they are made from a totally different persepective than the Star Trek movies.
When i see Star Trek (just saw "First Contact" again), i always have the feeling of being on the star trekking myself.
I feel like exploring the galaxy with them, seeing the beauties of it (although they end up fighting at times).
For me... it's a shame if they would stop making Star Trek movies, even after the poor "Nemessis".
I only agree partual with Bill, maybe they should freez it for a while, but i feel they should somehow rethink the Star Trek series and keep the independant of the Star Trek movie crew as we have now.
Oooh, besides... what ever happened to the rumour of having a Voyager Movie?
