True, with the creation of "sound bytes" in some media, we see it's effects in people's unwillingness to take the time to read even the barest of written reports. And don't bore me with more than one side of a story! Just tell me what I want to hear! And thank goodness for new means of "communication" such as Twitter, automatically prevent a whole though from being expressed, concentrate on the trivial, keep people busy enough to not notice real events.
I'm not defending most "news" papers. Many were bought out by people and corporations with nothing more than a profit motive. The old concept of providing information that those in power always want to obscure is quickly dying. Of course, there were also some papers that wanted their hold on that information exactly because of the power it gave
them. Nothing man-made is perfect.
The decline of most news "services" into add supported companies is resulting in the natural progression into catering to the lowest common denominator, IMHO. An uninformed society is a failing society. A common result of 'majority rule,' where it should not be invoked. I fear that "Justice" will soon follow the same path.
