What a bunch of fanatical posters. Some from each camp, unfortunately. Sad. I posted a comment to the effect that she got what she said she wanted, so who are we to argue. It's an add! It may actually happen like that in life. People make mistakes! Hopefully, they learn from them and get to try again.
If your "technical" requirements don't go beyond a laptop with a 17" screen and a "nice" keyboard, one could buy practically any Wintel machine. The price was the only limiting factor of the requirements. That's just not what Apple has ever concentrated on.
She picks a Wintel machine. What's new? What's the point? Apple doesn't make the cheapest computers? Is that supposed to be news to anyone?
But I really wonder how much HP supported the ad's costs. One would be hard pressed to know that it wasn't an HP ad, IMHO. So, what kind of OS does HP supply? Gee, I have no idea...
If MS
didn't get some money from HP, they are even less intelligent than I think they are. Wonder if they would actually have aired the ad had she bought a Dell? Or even (GASP) a used MBP!
I'm bettin' that tape would never see the light of day!
Now, I gotta' go search that list to see if they are looking for some fixed-income, retired pilots...I promise to keep my "technical" requirements to a minimum: never bothered by a virus while running the OS without any anti-virus s/w and has a warranty from Apple. Oh yeah, it must have a nice keyboard and a 17" screen and I'm more than willing to pay the first thousand dollars of my own money!
Bring it on MS!
