This gives you a warm feeling that you seldom get from these shows!  I wish her very well!

Beautiful rendition!

First impressions don't count for very much, do they?

I'm not a complete idiot -- a few parts are missing!

I wasn't sure what you meant - but I did when I watched it! thumbup.gif

Must admit I stopped watching these talent shows long ago because, generally, they seemed to be an opportunity for people like Morgan and Cowell to show how "clever" they were by piling humiliation on contestants. Wasn't a song I know, but it certainly tested her range. And she passed with flying colours. smile.gif

Neil,

The song was from the Broadway Play Les Miserables, and she did a splendid rendition of it.
I loved to watch the expressions on the judges faces and the audience reactions.

The play had numerous memorable songs, one of my favorite musicals, along with Evita.
Both best played LOUD.

I know what you mean (no pun intended), Neil. I don't watch the similar program here, even though there is currently a local girl in the running. Frankly, I was hoping this show was more about celebrating unknown talent than abusing it. It seems audiences are so angry at 'somebody,' that they find it amusing to see some one/any one get the abuse! sad.gif

But I do hope this lady gets some attention from those who can help her get closer to her dreams! smile.gif Wouldn't hurt if she got some 'cosmetic' help, either! biggrin.gif

This story has been all over the media this week. Best response I heard was today on All Things Considered. A listener wrote to say "Why is the fact that a less-than-stunningly-beautiful women being able to sing so well, any kind of news?!" Kind of hit me where it hurts. I certainly was surprised and shouldn't have been! What does 'the world's idea of beauty' got to do with talent and/or skill? Yet, I make that same type of judgement way too often.
