Yes, I do eat the rind!  Hasn't killed me yet!  It was on special offer at the supermarket (£1.00 for a big lump!) on Monday!

I can only hope you're being facetious, TTM. I thought "Political Correctness went out of style years ago. And no body has even hinted that normally prepare pork being, in any way connected with any strain of swine influenza. wallbash.gif

BTW, I think the word actually evolved from the scientific name "Suidae." It is, thus a collective or plural term referring to a whole family of animals, a single member of which we usually call "pig." Since swine are thought to have evolved in Asia, it should not be unusual to see it being a vector for influenza. So, IMHO, "swine" is a perfectly appropriate term to be using.

Lastly, the misguided effort to make every thing "politically correct" is neither correct nor political. tongue.gif I see it more as an attempt to create 'code words' for terms that may not meet with approval of one group or another. Those words usually indicate a certain bias or prejudice and using a different word does nothing to change that attitude. Changing a inappropriate attitude is, IMHO, both correct and humane.

Code words, eh?

We had a report recently from police who described someone as "having a knife pointed at him over a matter of money..." In plain English it was a knifepoint robbery, which is how it went in the paper. Of course the police are trying to meet Government targets on crime reduction. Let's give the crime a new description and it disappears from the list.... rolleyes.gif

It is to take our mind off the state of the economy so that we won't realise how the Banks have been allowed to screw us for all these years.

A nice bit of pandemic piggy flu and "we are all going to die" theory just happens to divert from the more important issues around.  And thank you Mr Prime Minister for telling us that the UK is the safest place to be because the dear old government have set aside lots of vaccinations.  They are just sweethearts really with our best interests at heart.  It is like the terrorism "alledged" threats to the major airports every so often.

Call me a cynic (YOU ARE A CYNIC, FRANCES!)

Lol... right on Frances. Brown is trying so hard to hang on to his low percentage approvals that he doesn't even realise when he gafs up....
I was about to ad 'and when not' but in my opinion... he 'always' does (although I guess you have to give him some credit... but that brings us to a total different topic again) wink.gif

The flu "scare" can't possibly be an exercise to make us forget the economy. There is no way you could get that many governments and that many bureaucrats to cooperate that well! laughhard.gif

Edited to remove my opinions that were neither helpful nor interesting!

Emmmm......G20 Summit?

Blackadder: Baldrick, I have a very, very, very cunning plan.
Baldrick: Is it as cunning as a fox what used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on, and is now working for the UN at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?
    Blackadder: Yes, it is.
    Baldrick: Mm... That's cunning!

I ate pork chops yesterday. No signs of flu, but when I looked in the mirror this morning I noticed that my nose is getting flatter and my ears are getting longer and pointier. When I sneeze it sounds like an OINK!!! I have a strong urge to waller in the mud. Other than that, I think I'm fine!!! tongue.gif
